With unfolding world events, I realize this is rather stupid but I had promised to share some highlights of recent 2011 Amelia Island Concours in North Florida. This event is much more than rare vintage cars and includes hot rods, race cars and “one-off” concept cars from the past. This event rivals the Pebble Beach Concours in Monterey CA and all proceeds go to charity. (North Florida Hospice) Here is just a small sample from the 300+ cars in no particular order.

S+F NICE!!!! Thanks. I used to sell cars for Ray Skillman in Indianapolis. He has a car museum on line where he just sells vintage cars to private enthusiasts. I would go right down the road of the lot where I sold "imports" to his museum every chance I got. They used to be such functional art. Now you really gotta pay to enjoy. Everytime I think of people getting all down on oil and gasoline these are vehicles that have in my heart that is bitersweet. Unless you ever floored a V-8 or above and been pushed back in your seat and had a grown woman giggling like a little girl next to you...MAN, its the whole experience. Eyes, ears, nose, touch, smiles.... its all in a car...

I love the pierce arrow cars from the 1920's. My favorite one is a 1919 pierce arrow model 66 A toring car coustimized by harely earl for the famous actor/stand up comedian harold loyd. That car is huge if you see it in person! It's a purple sedan with all white tires.

My favorites from the link provided:

I would give almost anything to have this car

Now this is my kind of car. You can barely tell it used to be a 58 chevy. I love stuff like this

I like these little TVR's a lot. I like to get my hands on one, mostly because out of all the british cars I see around, I never see these. However I always thought the styling on the back of the car, didnt really match the front.
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/2343963a129f.jpg[/atsimg]

Does anyone know what this is? I want one. It looks British, but I dont know what make it is?
Ok after some research. Its an early 60's Maserati sebring series 1. Also known as the next project car I am looking to buy.

This car is Awesome. Ive got a magazine with a feature on it. The guy built this thing by hand. I love it when people do bold things like build their own car. Ive been sketching designs for a car Im gonna build for a while now.

Disregard my above comments about buying the Maserati as a project car. I just looked into the prices, and I definately cannot afford it.

Hey, we can still dream.
Thanks for the feedback. I was beginning to wonder if there were any true car nuts here besides myself and a few others. You've restored my faith.

I'll see what I can dig up on the white one, I have the official Program.....somewhere.

Yeah, I like all kinds of cars. I love the rat rod/tradtionial kustoms cars, but I also admire the classics. I run a small restoration shop, and work on mostly british stuff. Ive got an Austin Healey, and a couple Triumphs in the shop right now. I do American cars also, I have 39 Lasalle sedan, 57 corvette, and a 67 Cadillac Convertible here too. I dont get to go to as many shows as I used to though. I get my daughter on the weekends and she gets bored out of her mind at car shows.

Thanks, friend. Love cars! I am a Gearhead. Worked as an automobile mechanic and engineer for 38 years, and loved every minute of it. If I could go do it today, I would. I have built many hot rods, custom cars, dirt track and demolition cars, lawyers and doctors cars, and common people's cars. Evey aspect, from suspension to engine tech, ignition systems, manual and automatic transmissions, braking systems, steering components and alignment, paint and body, crash damage repair, etc. I stuffed a 350 Chevy into a Pontiac Fiero, I put a 455 Stage 3 Olds big block, duel quads and racing heads into a 66 Chevelle, and another 455 Olds into a 1980 Pontiac Bonneville. On that one we had to lower the engine into the frame 3 inches, and move it back 3 1/2 inches, but the headers went right on, so did the starter.

I rolled a semi over in 1985 that effectively ended my mechanical career. All I can do not is fix computers, and I have to say, that is lacking by comparison.

freaking love these cars! I dont drive. It got to expensive. But I have a large interest in the automotive stuff. I like the rare vintage cars American muscle and expensive exotic sports cars. I am working on a moped bicycle for my transportation needs to save money. It is a 26 V frame road bicycle with a bike to moped SD Stinger 48 cc one cylinder engine. it gets 150 miles per gallon and has a half gallon gas tank. Its not much to look at but it can do about 45 to 50 miles per hour. They are kind of rare but you can buy them from moped stores or websites that sell these engine conversion kits for about $200 + shipping. Oh and you will need a 26 V frame bike ether a cruiser or a road bike.

Hey atuowrench! Sucks that that happened to you. But I like both computers and engine mechanics. I learned allot about computers from a guy that fixed my operating system and my dad taught me engines. Computers is a growing industry so you will have allot to do with working on computers if you keep at it. It's kind a fun to.
