Thank you for the info guys, yes it is hard to see what's true with all these news. The news keep saying different things, first it's leaking then it's not then it is...ah! And lots of rumors are passing here too, it's hard to know what's true. Let's just all hope this ends soon..

Best of luck ianjo! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I can not imagine what it is to be in your current situation, nor will I pretend to and offer false advise. It sounds from your posts that you are an intelligent and reasonable person for your age.

Update 13.39 am: The radiation level in Tokyo was higher than normal but still far below the level at which a public health risk. Yet the overall atmosphere in Japan called worrisome. Now the authorities use water cannons to cool reactors at Fukushima Dai'ichi, they always seem to have fewer options at hand, reports BBC correspondent Chris Hogg.

Gamma radiation levels on West Coast 2 to 10 times levels on East Coast
Source: East County Magazine (San Diego, CA) By Miriam Raftery March 16, 2011 (San Diego, CA) 12:30 a.m. -- A radiation map on the U.S. Environmental Protection Service shows radiation levels at measuring stations across the United States. There is a disturbing pattern showing gamma radiation levels along the West Coast, Alaska and Hawaii at two to 10 times levels on the East Coast, with Midwest states in mid-ranges. The EPA radiation site (www.epa.gov/radiation ) has a database but does not app..

I found this on a google search but the link doesn’t work any more..

My deepest prayers are with you OP, and all of the people in Japan. My sincere hope is that this will shortly be contained, and that the damage that's already been done becomes the extent of it.

I've been monitoring the situation closely and I've attempted to keep abreast of events as they unfold. Thus far my research has resulted in the following article, and it will be continually updated as new info comes in. As always, I keep my eye on ATS as news can often break faster here than most other places. Keep vigilant everyone. This is a moment where the human family needs to manifest some intense love for all those affected.

iAnjo,

Thanks for the updates, hope that you can get some rest and that things will calm down soon. Not sure what to think of the situation, but all we can do is hope for the best. Also, hopefully you will be able to travel as planned, so take care and stay safe.

If you seal all openings in a house to stop air getting in you will die of carbon dioxide/monoxide poisoning.
You will deplete the oxygen and increase the CO2/CO content to lethal levels.
