You don't NEED a perscription to buy it...but if you go to a doctor because you want to get the pills from Pharmacies or Hospitals that have it stocked...then you do need a perscription.

You can get it off the shelf or online if available.

Yes, I heard and read. And again, perhaps the Doctors are laughing because there is NO need for a prescription, no?

Adieu

i think we are getting 2 versions of Potassium Iodide
mixed up with one another.

Regular Potassium Iodide does NOT need a prescription.
The more potent Potassium Iodide KI version does not
need a prescription either, but it is recommended by
the CDC to consult a doctor before using the KI version.
So basically it is similar to getting a prescription if you have
to consult a doctor to get it.

facts from the CDC
www.bt.cdc.gov...

the poster here on this thread and the caller into the
AJ Show were trying to get the KI version which the
doctor would not give it to him. So you and I are
speaking about 2 different versions

So anyway, do I have it right then? Had I taken potassium iodide tablets after Chernobyl, when the much, much, bigger radiation cloud spread across Britain, I would not have died of horrendous tumours and radiation burns 25 years ago and would still be alive today?

Now you tell me .....

The KI recommended for radiation emergency (130mg) dosage - is what I am talking about. No prescription needed. Examples include: Iosat, thyrosafe, etc.

KI available in health food stores is a lower dosage, but compensation can be made if necessary (though why it would be is in question) in this situation.

Your link to the CDC page confirms, no prescription necessary.

but it does recommend consulting
a doctor which is basically the same thing
according to the caller and the poster here.
At least that is the excuse the Gov is using
to stop it's sale.

I have always found your theories interesting, they give us all something to think about.

I am not, however, on board with this one. Most of the *private suppliers may be out, but Uncle Sam has not stopped the sales for a nefarious reason.

Panicky public, that's what we're seeing.

Just a quick note about this topic. The Govt. has a large stock pile of (KI) but will you receive it in good time? Probably not!
So we ask where can we get a supply of (KI), The internet is full of sellers. However the draw back is that your order may not find you in good time.

IN A PINCH you can use "Tincture of Iodine" DO NOT INJEST, this is a poison!!!! If you must use this form of elemental Iodine you can paint approx. 8 to 10 ml on your abdomen and let the iodine absorb thru your skin. Or you can dip your finger up to the first knuckle and also receive the proper dosing via absorption.

This should only be done in an emergency 1 to 2 hrs prior to contamination

(KI) is considered a stable salt but can degrade over time. (KI) should be white in color and if it appears to have a yellowish tinge then it is no longer effective.

(KI) Can also be derived via fish, kelp extracts ( capsules and drops available from your natural health stores) and Kale.

Be careful with allergies. Some people are allergic to (KI) Hence using this ONLY in an emergency!

Hope this was helpfull, Please consult with your doctor

Yeah well at least I now know why your so ornery
Too late for me too I am over that 40 mark. And if these plants do go up, sending a bottle or two of pills will be like a drop in the ocean. I can at least host a family if they get out
