well it wouldn't do me any good
as I'm over 40 and most say
taking it after 40 yrs old without
an actual emergency situation
would most likely be fatal.
So I'll skip the yard sales

In no way would I say take it. Taking it right now would be stupid as we aren't and probably wont need it...But for future events and just in case never hurt anyone.

And also where are you getting that it is fatal?? I am in the medical field and have absolute no reference of this being fatal unless in extremely high doses(400mg at least in 24 hour period). Just to clarify certain fish such as cod and sea kelp can have over 80 mg per serving ....so are you telling me the recommended dosage of about 90 mg per day could kill you??? So eating two servings of kelp could kill my dad??

With such reckless behavior by the media I'm not terribly surprised. What is really sad is those pills could have gone to Japan where they will be needed instead of wasted here where nobody will need them.

Why people feel the need to make this about themselves is beyond me, but it happens every time there is a tragedy. I suppose it has to do with drawing attention to themselves and some sort of bizarre jealousy for the real victims.

Blaine, did you read BTS's post that
stated most of the sales of this drug
happened before the first meltdown.

Also, the link I provided in that yahoo
search demographic shows spikes
in a search for Potassium Iodide started
spiking around March 10, 1 day before the
Tsunami hit the Japan beach head.

Somebody knew it was coming !!!
And what to take for it !!!
That would lead one to believe
this was a planned event IMO.

wow that is quite an interesting find. One would only wonder how and who would know and who were the majority that were purchasing.

straight from the Coliseum in Rome

death is a ruse to entertain a mob.

and 80% is a lil conservative.
Georgia Guidestones say 500 Million
and we are almost at 8 Billion. Would say
that is a lot more than 80% ???

The World Health Organization recommends that nuclear fallout KI prophylaxis is not recommended for adults over 40 years, unless inhaled radiation dose levels are expected to threaten thyroid function; because, the KI side effects increases with age and may exceed the KI protective effects

If I'm not mistaken, those who
were purchasing have already been
listed in a prior post in this thread.
I think Zorgon posted it, not sure.
Just look backwards, there's only
4 pages or maybe it was on another
thread.

the majority were gov entities
including DHS among others.

found it:

A little story about Potasium Iodide [KI] that happened to me this morning...

I tried to get some KI but was told it's a prescription drug. So, I sent a message to my doctor saying I'd like a prescription. half hour later he calls me back, laughing*, asking if I'm going to Japan soon! I say I'd like to have some for precaution since numerous nuclear reactors have blown up in Japan (I'm in California) and some level of radiation is guaranteed to be here. He laughs again and says "you can't believe everything you read on the internet... until the CDC issues a warning I'm not gonna prescribe unnecesary medications"

I tell him, kindly, "with all due respect I come to you for medical advice, not on radiation dispertion patterns; and I'd like to have some potasium iodide for safety reasons."

he refused...

on pressing the matter he did say if I wanted to send him a link from a reputable source saying we're in danger he'd reconsider.

* Keep in mind I'm a normal guy, wife works at same hospital as doc, and I've never spoken to him about anything conspiratorial.

I am a certified "Walking Dead People" Movie Fan. Does not make me try and make the disaster in Japan about me.

I started researching this before this tragedy and it's doubly interesting watching it occur in front of me. It's actually a common reaction and it's seen under stress conditions. Like when a loved one is in the Hospital with a serious condition, some will immediately make it about them by drawing attention to themselves and their needs and loss while actually growing angry and jealous of the person who is suffering.

Same thing happening here and driving people to all these threads about the imaginary risks to them and the poorly veiled anger at the Japanese victims. You will notice how the fact that the risk here in the U.S. is almost non-existent and is ignored while the hysteria is embraced.

Soon we will be seeing people with Geiger Counters and not a clue how to use them spreading panic. They will run into a pile of slag or some slag gravel on a driveway or something and panic themselves and others. Panic spreads easily and it does not matter if it is based on delusions.

Look how this thread has been taken so far out of context, you could not tell what it is about from some of the posts. You would expect the conversation to be about the irrationality of those hoarding the pills and panicking to get their hands on them, when there is likely zero threat, even in a worst case scenario.

The Media is not helping at all and should be educating the public, but they won't. Fear mongering sells and get's good ratings.

Beware of people on eBay raising prices on Potassium Iodate, one ebayer went went from 15.00 to 99.00 a bottle!!! They are trying to cash in on the Japan crisis, taking advantage of the situation raising prices a few days ago... Avoid paying 99.00 a bottle or avoid buying Potassium Iodate completely...

Potassium iodide (KI) is far superior than Potassium Iodate.... Iodide breaks down and is absorbed by the body much faster and more thoroughly compared to iodate. www.nukepills.com...

Beware of jacked prices on Potassium Iodate and Iodide!!!

Your MD is right. Why even use an MD if you don't believe them? You won't be needing any of those pills.

Even in Tokyo just 150 miles from the reactor the levels are only going to 7 times background last I heard this morning. That should show you that it will be so dispersed if it does reach here that worrying about it is not a sensible reaction.

Panic has a way of negating rational thought. Your MD could have approached it better though when speaking with you.

i think your doctor is having a laugh at
your expense. You do NOT need a prescription
to get it. You can buy it off the internet without
even seeing a doctor.

this is why he didn't write you a prescription
cuz u didn't need it.

best wishes

Hey thanks a lot that is a great read. I also don't want to come off as a wasteman i just wanted to let some facts about. I am glad you replied with your proof about being over 40.

I have learned quite a bit about emergency pharmacology when I was in school and spent quite a bit of time learning about radiation fallout. I didn't learn this is the US however I am not from here and know there aren't many schools or programs here that teach or focus on some of this stuff.

Don't you think that was set into motion by the prior precursor of 7.2 to the big event? I think that is more likely than an earthquake on a known active subduction zone being man-made or caused for whatever wild theories are out there.

There is zero sources that say sales of this started before the Earthquake in Japan.

And your yahoo statistics clearly show that the spike happened AFTER March 11th. Select the 7 day view and you will clearly see it spikes after March 11th.

The nuclear fears were being stated immediately after the Earthquake.

You are simply lying and fear mongering.

Just shows you some people won't believe they are underwater until their last dying, drowning breath.

Better to have supplies and not need them than need them and not have them.

This morning on CNN, a USA radiation specialist said the workers were exposed to the lethal dose of radiation inside those plants and should be considered heroes. The USA people buying the Iosate pills are over reacting.
"The best solution is to not drink the cows milk in radio active fallout areas, ever." he said. I wouldn't take any pills without doing alot of research on it before hand. You don't know how your body will react, and what the long or short term consequences may be.

This whole Nuclear meltdown senario is why it is so important to not have nuclear weapons or weapons testing on this planet. It should be illegal. The government leaders are going to mess up our planet. It is cruical to get off fossil feuls and nuclear power for energy sources. It is not clean free energy, which should be our planetary goal.

We absolutely need to change to free clean energy.

B.S.

Supplies have been stockpiled by the Gov. for use in case a US nuclear event occurs and even then, only enough for a 10 mile radius and obvious evac. zones. They haven't "just now" bought it all up. They have always been doing that. Whether one sides with the argument that the radius is wide enough, is beside the point, which is: there has NEVER been enough stock-piled to cover even 2-6% of the population because the argument has been made that immediate evacuation is more important to focus on.

Those who are looking at the Gov. actions should also be looking at the Nuclear Power Industry lobby actions...
