Actually through 3/18

They used data from a few days past and today, to model how the fallout will travel and when it will hit the west coast. Apparently they believe this will happen 02/18/11.

200-300 Serious radiation sickness effects as in 100-200 rem and hemorrhage; exposure is a Lethal Dose to 10-35% of the population after 30 days (LD 10-35/30).
300-400 Serious radiation sickness; also marrow and intestine destruction; LD 50-70/30.
400-1000 Acute illness, early death; LD 60-95/30.
1000-5000 Acute illness, early death in days; LD 100/10.

In portland they show now 43. Is that the same 43 as stated here. Temporary reduction in white blood cells?

Does that mean in Chiba they had 180? They should start feeling sick in a few hours?

I dont understand the numbers?

I went back to the base URL and it appears to be a legitimate weather service website.

The 43 in Portland are cpm (counts per minute), the numbers in that list are Dose-rem.
I'm not sure how they relate to eachother.

This post gives a conversion method.

Okay, That map has not been updated since 11:31am and is static.........

Since the 404 errors this morning something is not right with this site.................look for yourself

Look at this site as well www.geigercounters.com...

I did a little bit of research on this. The chart you are showing lists readings in millisieverts: mSv. The geiger counter readings are in microsieverts: μSv.

The International System of Units (SI) for radiation measurement is now the official system of measurement and uses the "gray" (Gy) and "sievert" (Sv) for absorbed dose and equivalent dose respectively. Conversions are as follows:

1 Gy = 100 rad
1 mGy = 100 mrad
1 Sv = 100 rem
1 mSv = 100 mrem
With radiation counting systems, radioactive transformation events can be measured in units of "disintegrations per minute" (dpm) and, because instruments are not 100% efficient, "counts per minute" (cpm). Background radiation levels are typically less than 10 μR per hour, but due to differences in detector size and efficiency, the cpm reading on fixed monitors and various handheld survey meters will vary considerably.

The first link (USA radiation levels) is giving a 404. I tried it twice. Update: I accessed the link through a separate browser. The map is coming up 404 there as well. I suspect either the server's overloaded, or that rad levels are a national secret.

I see that this is the green USA map, the lime green one, which others have presented, but I have no idea how to read it. It scarcely seems informative. The site seems somewhat bare bones.

Shoot. If I were prez, free to travel and rich and stuff, I'd hit Rio.

Okay........I talked to the guys who own the site.......all is well!! They did have some issues over the past couple of days........the site below is the good link......Nice guys.....they are being swamped with all the phone calls and sales.......

The upgade to their software sounds very cool........you would be able to read meters around the world plus other stuff

I give them a double

Well, it's nice that there are those who show the data, unlike the slackers at the msm.

Curiously, rare earth metals will suffer a slump due to the quakes. It is reported that money just will not flow in that direction because of the logistical opportunism that arises in such crisis, to credit rahm emanuel. I suspect that many commodities will come down, as speculators look for easier money than simply ratcheting up oil and such. Interesting world. This same thing happens on the NYSE every day, many times each day. They steer you from one sure thing to another, so that the money flows where they say to flow, like magic. I'm guessing gold is affected too.

I think there's a spiderwort plant somewhere on the grounds. The purple flowers will turn pink if there's radiation.

Ok, I'm gonna test this.

Online Ionizing Radiation Detectors
Readings are in uR/hr for Cs137/Co60
Only detectors with readings in the last 24 hours are displayed

Today is: 2011-03-15, and the time is 21:32:17 UTC.
This page will automatically refresh every 5 minutes.

Will update if the time does change. Gotta know.

Ok, Just checked and the time DOES change so more confidence in the map being updated.

Another note: The map is not static. It's click and drag, not just a pic. Looked at the source code in the page and it's an actual program feed.

If you have a new link, post it. As things are going, the links are up and down on all sites so the more we have the better.

Thanx
