A friend forwarded me an email about the Fukushima nuclear plant meltdown and included a 6-10 day "fallout map" for the western U.S./Canada that's obviously a hoax. I'm certain that Australian Radiation Services had nothing to do with it, but simply had their logo stolen because they're a small radiation monitoring and compliance firm that's closed on weekends.

I know this "fallout map" is fake just because of the way they spelled "nausia" in accompanying text, the "red zone" shows 6,000 times more radiation than Eastern Europe was exposed to from Chernobyl (all the red, orange and yellow radiation fallout zone levels in the ARS map would be deadly.)

Here's a REAL Chernobyl fallout map that shows a typical nuclear radiation dispersion pattern.

JRW from Survival Blogs has some excellent advice:

All eyes are on Japan! I just got a link to video of explosion at Fukushima nuclear plant. The Japanese nuclear experts' conclusion: Meltdown Caused Nuke Plant Explosion. I don't expect many radio-isotopes to make it to the continental United States, but just in case: Keep your potassium iodate or iodide handy, buy some dehydrated milk, and keep track of radiation levels.

Similar good advice from renowned iodine and breast cancer expert Dr. Brownstein (who unfortunately also seems to have fallen for the hoax), assuming there's ANY measurable radioactive fallout from the Radiation Network Map.

It is important to ensure that we have adequate iodine levels BEFORE this fallout hits. How much iodine is recommended?

The CDC recommends using iodine to prevent injury form radioactive iodine fallout. Adults and women who are breastfeeding should take 130mg of potassium iodide. Children who are between 3 and 18 years of age should take 65mg of potassium iodide. Children who are adult size should take the adult dose. Infants and children between 1 month and 3 years of age should take 32mg of potassium iodide. Newborns from birth to one month of age should be given 16mg of potassium iodide.

When should you take iodine? For an acute exposure, you want to take iodine just before the exposure hits. Iodine is cleared out of the body within 24 to 72 hours after taking it. However, If you have been using ortho-iodosupplementation as I describe in my books and lectures (taking from 6-50mg/day of iodine and iodide), you should be covered. Remember, the goal is to not let the radioactive iodine bind in the body.

Potassium iodide can be found in many health food stores. Combinations of iodide/iodine can be obtained from holistic physicians. Iodoral, Iodozyme HP, and Lugol’s solution are examples of this form of iodine. For long-term treatment, combinations are much more effective. More information about this can be found in my book, Iodine Why You Need It, Why You Can’t Live Without It, 4th Edition (available at www.drbrownstein.com).

I do not recommend starting the first dose of iodine right now. It is important to follow the news reports and supplement accordingly. I would suggest starting iodine supplements within one to two days of the expected fallout. If the fallout is expected to continue, you may need to take more than one dose of iodine. I will keep you updated as I find out more information.

Two other blogs (one Australian) who also insist that this is an elaborate hoax:

ambergriscaye.com...

My guess is that this organized effort is meant to distract us from something that's really important, like oh, maybe the impending U.S. government bankruptcy and collapse of the new Weimar Republic's Federal Reserve Notes?

Radiaiton fallout affects milk and wheat products the most because of the contaminated grass and grains ingested by cows.

But I don't think there's much to worry about -- at least not yet.

Maybe keep an eye on the Radiation Network Map for the next couple weeks, because the government and media ain't gonna tell you squat except maybe who got eliminated from American Idol and the billowing missile launch that millions saw off the coast of LA was really an airplane contrail.

Well, I see the "It's Saturday -- where can I buy iodine?" thread is six pages and I've gotten exactly one response.

Whoever created that phony nuclear fallout map with 1500 rads of killer radiation traveling 6000 miles to the U.S. in a week knew what they were doing. Why they did it is the bigger question.

Nothing wrong with having some potassium iodine on hand, but taking it without even knowing that radiation levels have increased -- which they probably won't -- is foolish IMO. And I sure don't trust the corporate media/government more than anyone else. Probably less...
