Incredible Swarms of Fish Off Acapulco’s Coast Could be Linked to Japanese Tsunami

The shores of Acapulco's beaches were this weekend teeming with masses of fish packed so tightly they looked like an oil slick from above. Thousands of sardines, anchovies, stripped bass and mackerel surged along the coast of the Mexican resort in an event believed to be linked to the devastating Japanese tsunami. Delighted fishermen rushed out in wooden motor boats, abandoning their rods and nets and simply scooping the fish up with buckets.

Animal behavior seems to be getting more bizarre by the day and this event just adds one more unexplained incident to the list.

Who said anything about flying fish?
The point here being unusual animal behavior in nature, you know, like you find only too often on ATS

Looks like a normal school of fish being herded by bigger fish.Dont see a connection other than feeding time

Surely, the collective noun for a bunch of fish is a shoal and not a swarm. With such shoddy journalism one could forgive them for failing mentioning that this type of event with large shoals of fish "in the shallows" is not rare. Well, that's the Daily Mail for you. Perfect tat.

I was wanting to ask what kind of impact the marine life had after the earthquake/tsunami. I just figured it would be a dumb question. Like what about the sharks, whales and dolphins. When the waves gather strength in the ocean do they just catch a current or what? Does it kill them? Or do scientists even know what happens with the critters of the sea?

when i visited mexico as a kid we use to fish b y throwing dynamite into the lake, the sound wave or shock would pop the fishe's ear and they'd float up. maybe the earthquakes caused the fish to die. im no expert so spare me

A million fish at his feet and that fisherman has 3 in his tiny net, and one of them's escaping.... Fishing FAIL.
