For a while now, many of my friends and family have been going on about Lil B. As a rapper, he was part of the California rap group, The Pack. They
put out 2 singles you may have heard, the most popular being "Vans", but before reaching stardom the group dissipated.
So now, Lil B or "Based God", is becoming this huge internet sensation from songs like this:
So I hear some of his songs and think, "Wow, this guy is garbage..."
But after reading this article and pondering a
little, I've finally come to understand the madness.
He is giving people a chance to follow something new, rebellious and funny. Something that anyone can join in on. Now I personally would not call
Based God's music "Rap". I would call it "Swag Hip-Hop". I don't know if this style will last but there seems to be a lot of debate about whether Lil
B is destroying hip-hop or taking it to another plane of existence. I think he's doing both and it's actually ingenious. Thoughts?
