Well, this got me thinking lol. Apparently high radiation can effect cameras and therefore nuclear powerplants buy special radiation tolerant cameras.

Link to a vendor

Now the question is would the drone have a camera like this?

Good guess is the plants had them, whether or not they function is a different matter. They might be broken from the explosions/tsunami, or the images aren't being released.

It needs its very own new level. Level Seven is "Chernobyl" and Level 8 is "Fukushima."

It is three level 7s at least, probably moving to 3 level 8s. Add the spent fuel pool, level 9!

Throw in the MOX and we have a 10!

Interesting image, they are wearing a lot of protective gear inside of a building, and operating that equipment on site via those monitors and remote controls.

That expresses the reality of the situation... They can no longer get even close to these reactor buildings... except with remote control, or robotic equipment.

Who's stressed? I think I'm gunna go smoke a prescription joint because I could have sworn I got a job offer yesterday for the coolest job ever. Turns out the compassion club has gotten ahold of a gas chromatograph and I can help with that. Anybody out there by any chance have university connections (looking for a service manual, with diagrams and schematics for the column and pc interface, as well as the software), it is a varian model 3700. I could only get an operating manual (which is fine, but I need something more detailed it is inadequate from an engineering perspective) and a few pics of the column..

I'm bouncing the question in my head if this device is sensitive enough to pick up radio isotopes from samples. I would love to see some sample data output from a variety of things to figure it out but can't find any of that either.

Either way seeing as people here at ATS like tests, we might consider offering cheap GC testing for people here too in our idle slots (the research aspect of this project is somewhat important and takes priority). I'm guessing there are retro-fits for this type of unit (have heard some mention of it in my research).

hhmm, can't help withthe graph , but tests...ah tests...

they use to check for radioactive phosphor in plants by taking a plant sample and setting it on film overnight, the plant would 'radiate' an image onto the film and show where the radio-isotopes were in plant .

INES officially has no level higher than 7. I understand that maybe now there may be reason to add 8 to thier scale, but 9? 10?! Come on now, for the time being there's nothing higher than a rating of 7.

Would take a telephone books' worth of paper work to make that happen, I'd think.

I'd say his timing is a bit off, lol, by a few years....we should tell him to check back in 24,000 years. Only half of the Pu-238 will be hot then.

It's 6 reactors x level 7 which is Level 42!

Not meaning to be flippant. But when things are really bad you have to be able to laugh at some point to take the edge off it all..
