Live on CNN, down at the bottom it said something about a 7.9, though it might have been a previous aftershock or estimate of the scale.

Edit: oh my god the refinery just blew up into a mushroom cloud. thats crazy.

Wow all of Japans power plants are right on the coast. www.world-nuclear.org... . With the wrap-around action of a tsunami it is possible that this could affect all of them. Even if there is no leaks, how long will they be without power?

Can nuclear plants also just shut down like that? and would the water be able to destroy the structure and reach into the fission areas and what not

EDIT: going to have a quick meditation session and try to send out some positive vibrations for people in Japan. I encourage people who are reading this to do the same, even if you dont meditate regularly, or at all.

All afternoon the house has trembled slightly and the computer screen has jiggled within it's monitor frame. Due to the nature of the room, it is possible to feel and hear vibrations, as small objects leaning against the glass windows do vibrate easily. I am in Illinois.

The size of an Earthquake always downgrades after results are in and tallied from various sensors, so an announced size usually is recorde at less in a few hours

The rods when not being used are separated from each other. Usually with lead. When being used these cores are exposed to each other. That will allow them to interact and cause them to generate heat. This is used to heat water that drive turbines. The problem would be not being able to withdraw the rods into the lead casings and separate them from each other. If the rod are left out there must be some mechanism to take the heat away. If the water that heats and turn the turbines has leaked away due to loss of structure caused by the tsunami the the rods will just get hotter and hotter until it melts through the bottom of the chamber.

The end of the world as we know it

Things will indeed get much worse until our "alien" Gods return at the end of next year and ensure at least a thousand years of peace

Exciting times fellas!

This is a wake up call for people near the New Madrid.

I cannot stress enough that people need to prepare disaster kits, 72 hours of food and water at the least.
