What's more dangerous, an explosion, or a fire?

from what little i know fire is worse then explosion because the fire will then spread the particles further?

or more accurately an explosion then a fire would be the worst because then the fall out gets spread and then the fire spreads it further?

the blaze started in the outer housing of the reactors vessel according to the TV just now

it has also just been on TV that they have abandoned plans to dump water on the reactor by helicopter

A fire has been found in the northeastern corner of Reactor 4 building at Fukushima Daiichi plant, a power official says.

All these fires are just spreading more radioactive material around.
Really need to pay attention to wind direction.

CNN just raised a point....

They showed that one of the after shocks has hit very very close to Mount Fuji
They said that the last time the vulcano erupted was in 1707 and that happened just after an earthquake with epicenter at sea of magnitude 8.6 or so....

This was a commentary on tv , so no link

Are there no cameras pointed at the reactors? We saw the initial explosions from a camera some distance away - I assume they've all packed up and left.....and who could blame them.

I think they can leave a camera mounted... but it seems like they don´t want to air what its happening now there.

Oh my god, if Mount Fuji erupts, it would be like adding insult to injury. I hope the beast stays at rest, these people NEED to catch a break so badly

lets not forget that they have no electricity in most areas anywhere near the plants

Some good news... people are gathering firewood from destroyed buildings and scavaging for any food in cans. They found one delivery truck in the mud full of canned food still intact because it is canned goods

www.livestation.com...

One thing we always forget in these situations... things like toilet paper we take for granted...

I am surprised that they are not syphoning gas out of the wrecked cars and trucks yet seeing as they are short of gasoline and diesel
