According to The Economist (Source: United States Geological Survey) this quake is the 5th largest on records since 1900.

www.economist.com...

The following page has a poll that asks 'Are you unnerved by recent natural disasters?' with interesting results. As at this moment, 6215 votes have been entered with 47% indicating they feel unnerved and 53% not.

au.yahoo.com...

Now that just goes to show that nearly half of the respondents are indicating they feel nervous and anxious about recent natural disaster events. That is quite significant imo. Even if people exhibit that they're not worried, this poll is indicative that nearly half of the people we encounter likewise feel unnerved with recent natural disaster events. We haven't even yet entered the tribulation period!

I was wondering after the Christchurch quake if we were soon going to see yet another event, or there would be a lull. Less than several weeks later, look what happens - a massive EQ and Tsunami that devastates yet another city in Japan - Sendai.

if it is like this now, I admit, I don't think I can comprehend what the bowl judgments of God will be like. We see countries around the world responding with assistance to nations stricken with natural disaster as they are sequentially occur, but soon these events may begin occurring more simultaneously and it will become far more difficult and arduous to provide assistance. Cannot imagine the chaos that will result.

Jesus made it very clear what the world will be experiencing during that soon coming period when the disciples asked him what signs to look for when these things begin to happen. I cite several of those verses:

Luke 21:10 'Then he said to them, “Nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
‎21:11 There will be great earthquakes, and famines and plagues in various places, and there will be terrifying sights and great signs from heaven.
21:25 “And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth nations will be in distress, anxious over the roaring of the sea and the surging waves.
21:26 People will be fainting from fear and from the expectation of what is coming on the world......"

can you explain what does means to someone non nuclear smart?

radioactivity has risen 20-fold

I dont know that I am by any means 'nuclear smart' but it means that the levels of measurable radiation has gone up 20X the normal amount. It means that there is a meltdown happening, more than likely

Japan earthquake: nuclear disaster feared after power plant 'explosion' Japan is battling to avoid a nuclear disaster after an explosion at a power plant in the aftermath of the country’s biggest earthquake and a devastating tsunami. 460 259 TelegraphPlayer-8377530 Link to this video By Gordon Rayner, Peter Foster, Martin Evans and Jacqui Goddard 10:17PM GMT 11 Mar 2011 160 Comments The AFP agency reported that a blast was heard and white smoke seen billowing into the air at one of two power plants which the Japanese government had placed under a state of emergency. Several workers were reported to have been injured. Prime minister Naoto Kan had warned that a radiation leak might occur at one of the reactors at the Daiichi facility at Fukushima, 150 miles north of Tokyo, after Friday's 8.9-magnitude quake. The reports of an explosion followed aftershocks and came as a huge humanitarian operation got under way. By Saturday morning at least 1,300 people were feared dead and international rescue teams began to arrive The reactor’s cooling system failed after the earthquake struck off the Pacific coast, triggering a 33ft tsunami. Pressure in the reactor was continuing to rise after repeated efforts to return power to the cooling systems failed. Radiation inside the plant soared to 1,000 times its normal level, officials said, triggering evacuation orders for residents.

-In reply to the biblical relations, the Earth is a very old place, humans have been around for a long time, long enough to have witnessed first hand all of these activities that an active planet has to show.

-There is no foreboding end of the world, it's just that at this point in time, we have the technology to witness first hand, things that have been happening on this planet for millions of years...

sounds like it was not the reactor though, which is good news. Course, all this does is limit their ability to anything there even more, but Ill take that over a nuclear explosion for now.
