What If Tea Partier Had Said It: Wis. GOP Given Detailed Death Threat for Union Vote

What If a Tea Partier Said It?

Picture this scenario: hours after the vote on Obamacare - one year ago today - a Tea Party protester sent an email to leading congressional Democrats with a detailed description of plans to murder both those legislators and their families. The sender claimed to know where those Democrats lived, and said he had planted bombs in various places, including the capitol building.

What do you suppose the media reaction would be?

Odds are it would be a whole lot louder than the near-total media silence thus far over an email sent to Wisconsin Senate Republicans Wednesday night that states plainly: "You will be killed and your families will also be killed due to your actions." The email goes on to describe in detail how the sender plans on killing Republican members of Wisconsin's State Senate, who voted last night to enact Gov. Scott Walker's proposed reforms to public employee union collective bargaining.

It's interesting that the media hasn't picked up on this. And by "interesting" I mean it's "predictable" that the media hasn't picked up this story.

Do we have any better sourcing?

This seems about as substantiated as some of the crazier alleged behavior of tea party members. You can talk about liberal bias in the media all you want, but the fact is that bomb threats sell papers, cause mouse clicks and boost ratings. If this was legit, it would be getting play elsewhere.

Disinfo at its most heavy-handed.

It's totally predctable that MSM media hasn't run with it......
If it doesn't make the enemy of Obama look bad, they don't report it, unless there isn't any other choice.

Huh... Wonder if they'll really go through with it...

The union thugs are protesting with violence and weapons and death threats -- pretty much exactly how the main stream media attempted to portray the TEA party protesters as acting (which we all know they were peaceful). But now that a group is acting that way the media is ignoring it and trying to say they are the "common man". Irony at it's best.

Remember according to the MSM, the only true American is a union member supporting democrats and far left socialist revolutionaries.

Everyone else is a greedy capitalist pig...A title I will wear proudly.

I have to agree with this. Do we have any sort of confirmation that this is legit? This is the thing the MSM looks for and this is exactly what they want to run on TV. If this were legit I am sure it would be out there.

But if this is legit and is just now getting to the surface ... wow.

So it's bad reporting when it's democrats making the threats but when Republicans make the threats it's a whole different story. Thanks for showing your true color

Do you really think that the LIBERAL media will report that LIBERAL protesters are making death threats to Republicans?

Associated Press? I'll take that.

At the same time, I need to take exception with anyone who thinks that no member of the tea party has ever threatened violence against a legislator.

This behavior exists on the fridge of both ends of the spectrum. As does disinformation. Still looks like someone is getting a bit nutty.

Given that leftists exhibit numerous signs of mental illness, this is no surprise .

Leftists and jesus freaks should all be exiled to some deserted island where they can see who can out-crazy the others.

Thank you, thisguy. I was going to post two of those! Now sit back and wait for the "OK, so you found more sources, but can you find any more sources because I don't trust those."

For me, yeah pretty much.

The big difference is that my thinking everybody else is crazy is perfectly benign. I have no desire to dictate how others should live their lives or what they can and cannot own or can and cannot do.

Most of those "crazy" people however seem to think of dictating to me how my life should be lived is some right of theirs justified by their sheer numbers.

I think they're all crazy yet they're the ones ganging up on me to live the way they want me to live.

Who's really crazy?

Anyone making death threats is clearly deranged no matter what side they're on.

I think the media will report on anything that will get them a couple of viewers who hang around and watch skin cream commercials or a couple of extra clicks to read a story next to morgage rates ads.

Thanks for showing your reading comprehension. I said that this report seemed as well substantiated as reports of tea party craziness which weren often anecdotal.

Actually, the "media silence" is interesting. Know what else is surprising? The silence from the people being threatened. Usually when this happens, the politician in question steps up, waves the letter around, and makes sure that people know about it. In fact, a letter this detailed and thorough is absolutely guaranteed to make it on the air.

So why didn't it?

Well, let's have a look at the evidence at hand. Do a quick run through google; you'd figure it would make the news somewhere right? Some local station, one media outlet somewhere, anything picking up on it? No, what you find is blogs. Nothing but conservative blogs, and the right wing "alternative" news sites that fish their stories from right-wing blogs. Every single one of these places credits Charlie Sykes - a Milwaukee conservative radio host and blogger himself, who's position has been vehemently anti-union through this whole thing - and no other source. Sykes himself does not name a source; how did he get this email from "Republican senators," and why did they not bring it to the national media?

The "Media silence" is probably because either A) "the media" never got the memo, or B) the media got the memo, checked it out with Republican senators, and got told "Say what?"

Looks like we have another B-girl here. Congratulations, you fell for it. Again.

Edit: Ah! Other sources! Well, alright then. Let's hope whoever ends up behind this situation ends up enjoying their soap on a rope.
