I got an itch to look into the whole "freeman" movement and "sovereign citizen" thing and look into whether or not the hidden legal framework they propose are fact or fiction. It wasn't long until I was sidetracked with blogs and discussions regarding them as nutters and anti-Semites. Even tea party members are not exempt:

“I sat down, and they said on the back of your Social Security card, there's a number. That number indicates the bank that bought you when you were born based on a projection of your life's earnings, and you are collateral. We are all collateral for the banks. I have this look like, ‘What the heck are you talking about?’ I'm trying to hide that look and look clueless. I figured clueless was better than argumentative. So they said, ‘You don't know this?! You are a member of Congress, and you don't know this?!’ And I said, ‘Please forgive me. I'm just ignorant of these things.’ And then of course, it turned into something about the Federal Reserve and the Bilderbergers and all that stuff. And now you have the feeling of anti-Semitism here coming in, mixing in. Wow.”

I even came across a "fact sheet" on tax protesters! So what does all this mean? Is it all ignorance, some ignorance mixed with genuine opposition, or a concerted effort to stifle discussion regarding the current system of things? There are, no doubt, people that are very happy with the state of society and don't want people actually free. Heck, even many tea party members would make abortion a crime, ramp up the war on drugs e.c.t. But I can't shake the feeling that the anti-Semitic associations come with a desire to protect the core system of soft slavery we have. I am not oblivious to the fact that it is a tactic used to silence people, but what progress can be made when all discussions of freedom and liberty devolve into accusations and name calling?

They are trying to scare people away from the truth. Using the old personality attacks and the ol' "fear-think-true" trick.
