Hi all, just wanted to draw some attention to something that may be of interest, and due to occur next week (19th March) just found this on Yahoo....

The world is set to experience the biggest full moon for almost two decades when the satellite reaches its closest point to Earth next weekend. Skip related content


All sounds beautiful, til I read further down....

This phenomenon has reportedly heightened concerns about 'supermoons' being linked to extreme weather events - such as earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis. The last time the moon passed close to the Earth was on 10 January 2005, around the time of the Indonesian earthquake that measured 9.0 on the Richter scale.


Obviously it isn't a very long article, and I haven't fully researched its potential impact, as I felt it more important to share, and gauge what you guy's thought.

Although I was old enough to remember 1992, I was at school, and can't really remember any major extreme weather conditions, but perhaps others of you will, apparently two previous "supermoons" were in 1974, (Hurricane Tracy ring any bells ?), and 1955 ?

Obviously after all of the sensationalist print, the article goes on to say certain expert(s), believe it is all a coincidence, and there is no causal link between the rare enlargment of the moon, and extreme weather in the years that it occurs.

Yeah I did, and nothing was thrown back at me, having said that, I did use the search window, as opposed to the forums, Oh well lesson learnt for next time I hope lol
