Hundreds of protesters stormed a courtroom and attempted to make a citizens' arrest on a judge in support of a man challenging his council tax bill.
In chaotic scenes, police rescued Judge Michael Peake from the clutches of a mob and escorted him safely from the County Court in Birkenhead, Merseyside.
Officers were force to scramble over court benches to control the near riot as one protester shouted to 'seal the court'. Another sat in the judge's chair at the head of the court and declared the defendant be released.

Sigh... As an ex Crown & County Court officer of ten years I can tell you straight that this action is too lttle and too late.. Measures are already in place to counter such actions and will ony now fuel further harsher measures to be put in place... Such actions against these 'Judges' are futile and a total waste of time and results in only more tax payers expense in protecting them. Attacks against any and all UK courts directly is nothing but making short lived headlines and serves no useful purpose in trying to educate the people the injustices being served upon them.
