Hundreds of protesters stormed a courtroom and attempted to make a citizens' arrest on a judge in support of a man challenging his council tax bill.

In chaotic scenes, police rescued Judge Michael Peake from the clutches of a mob and escorted him safely from the County Court in Birkenhead, Merseyside.
Officers were force to scramble over court benches to control the near riot as one protester shouted to 'seal the court'. Another sat in the judge's chair at the head of the court and declared the defendant be released.

This is great! Imagine if people actually rallied around larger causes and arrested officials acting against their oaths. I'm not sure if this is one of those worthwhile causes but if people had the b@ll$ to make citizens arrests of things everyone complains about then the world would be a better place... or anarchy would ensue.

There is a different version of events here, it doesn't however mention the council tax and perhaps is a bit less informed in some respects than your story.

The called upon section 61 of the Magna Carta to invoke the right of the people to rule over their own domain.

^^ There is nothing ILLEGAL about it. In fact, it's beyond legal.

You do know that the "official" looking people with the blue bands on their head wear are NOT actually police officers.

They're whats call, "Community Support Officers" and really have no right to be in that situation.

Sigh... As an ex Crown & County Court officer of ten years I can tell you straight that this action is too lttle and too late.. Measures are already in place to counter such actions and will ony now fuel further harsher measures to be put in place... Such actions against these 'Judges' are futile and a total waste of time and results in only more tax payers expense in protecting them. Attacks against any and all UK courts directly is nothing but making short lived headlines and serves no useful purpose in trying to educate the people the injustices being served upon them.

Ok, but what if protestors were to ask the same thing of say... Bush at a press conference or meet and greet or something. If he were not to reply to the question of whether he follows his oath, then he CAN be subjected to a citizens arrest.

This is great you say, you don’t even know what it means! How do I know you don’t know what it means? Because it’s bullsh!t made up by these fantasists and it is in fact meaningless.

What this boils down to is some self important cock thinking he can get away with not paying his council tax while almost certainly benefiting from the services it pays for.

How is it bull # and meaningless? What he did was legal. It's not a fantasy. Perhaps you just don't want to know what is beyond the clutches of Father Government, but if you do, look into Freeman of the Land.

There's a difference between being anti-authoratative and playing by their rules. That is exactly what he is doing.

Alright then, show me the statute or legal ruling that makes it a legal requirement for a Judge to “confirm he is serving under his oath of office” and that gives a defendant the right to arrest a judge who does not comply with a demand he does so.
