I read some of the post ,but not everything.
But,The Texas constitution states that political power is inherent in the people and they have the right to alter their government in such a manner as they might think proper.
Texas was once recognized as an independent nation. They CHOOSE to join the union.
They never had an agreement that they could never leave the union.
There is no law forbidding or allowing secession.
So they can secede if they want to peacefully,or with war depending on the current president.
The civil war was the will of Lincoln.
Our Declaration of Independence declares"the people have the right to alter thier government in such a manner as they might think proper.
So we have the right TO alter our government!
But I wonder how, besides voting for some loser who promises this and that, but once in office the same old same old lies and deceptions.

Texas has it's own Stealth Fighters as well, Texas Air National Guard. They also have just about everything else that the Fed Govt has in the Military. They also have part of NASA.
Texas holds a lot more cards then most people think.

If they left the US, I am almost positive that 90% of people in Texas and/or Texas by birth would stay there or travel back.

Do you know who the civilian Commander in Chief of the Texas Air Guard is?

Barack Obama.

Who is their military leader?

BRIGIDIER GENERAL JOHN F NICHOLS. This man is a Coloradian.

Your point was?

We really could care less about either.

No disrespect to our friends in Colorado though.

And, I'll be moving my four family members in to help offset your departure. I guarantee that if Texas became a sovereign nation once again, it's population would see a net increase.

You have to ask who are the real traitors here, Texas or those
who have stolen everything the people of the United States have?
Who are they? Bankers, Supra-national corporations who
pledge alligenace to no one except themselves and then
expect the people to give them even more money after they
have lost everything they have stolen in the first place.

You can't blame Texas or any other state for wanting to leave
the Union because the Union seems to have placed allegiance
to something/someone other than the Flag, Constitution and the
people of the United States. Our founding fathers even warned us
that this could happen and stated it was our DUTY to make things
right again. What can be more patriotic than that?

If this bill passes, I will definitely move to Texas.

I an sick and tired of the federal government infringing upon the liberties of the citizens, the very same liberties, that they are supposed to be protecting.

Good riddance, You are an enemy or individual freedom and liberty.

The federal government has overstepped its bounds.

To hell with the feds, they only want to steal our liberties, when they are supposed to be protecting our liberties.

And you would enable their efforts, for what reason, troll?

Duh!

Can you imagine? If Texas leaves, they can once again start drilling and producing their own oil again!!! No longer will they be held back by Henry Kissengers 50 year OPEC contract.

Texas will be selling gas for 30 cents to its residents while the rest of the US-TexasA will be paying over $7 dollars once we back stab the middle east. I think I may just move to Texas if this passes.

Now Im not saying I dont like the US. I really do like it and I love what America is supposed to stand for - Freedom . But the people running this country now are simply ruining it.

Vote to secede!!!!!

I am from Massachusetts, all my life, and if Texas secedes, I am moving to Texas, thousands, maybe millions, would move to Texas, and create the government and society, that our founding fathers intended. Because Washington D.C. no longer represents the will of the people, they are all bought and paid for by big business.

The federal government now tries to steal our liberties, even though the federal government was created to protect our liberties.

To hell with the federal government.

Secede Texas, and all the patriots of America will pledge their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to defend Texas.

Yes I see your point. So be it. I've fought in one war, freedom is never free.
I am sure I will not be the only one fighting for what is rightfully ours through
blood, sweat and tears. Nowadays we can still fight without violence however
when that is no longer an option, oh my.....................

Texas LOVES big business, exactly what dooms the whole damn spectrum, you can't separate business from the ideas, therefore business runs the show.

Look at the S&L situation back when - that wasn't due to load
of control freak socialist hippies strangling production

You are free to be subjugated by things that you can't vote on

AMEN

Maybe, you haven't read, "A tale of two cities".

Funny things happen when people stand up for themselves.

Pray that you are on the winning side.

No, actually it's not. Check out the wikipedia article on the base which clearly shows it is Obama.

It is a federal airbase, even if "Texas" is in the title.

The adjutant general is commander of the Texas Military Forces, and subordinate only to the governor in matters pertaining to the Texas Army National Guard, Texas Air National Guard and Texas State Guard.

Furthermore . . .

--The Preamble to the United States Constitution contains the basic mandate for the
maintenance of military forces: "to provide for the common defense." Regarding the
National Guard, Congress is authorized in the Constitution "to provide for organizing,
arming, and disciplining the Militia” – reserving to the States respectively, the appointment
of the Officers, and the authority of training the Militia according to the discipline
prescribed by Congress" in Article I, Section 8. The Constitution further specifies that the
President is Commander-in-Chief of the Militia "when called into the actual Service of the
United States." The Texas Constitution makes the Governor "Commander-in-Chief of the
military forces of the State, except when they are called into actual service of the United
States."[TX Govt. Code, Title 4, Chap. 431, Sect. 002.]-- (Page 6)
