They need to make these close to autonomous if not fully autonomous before even building these things. The tech these days should fairly easily make this possible. A pilot should only be needed for potentially landing and this can be done remotely. Adding this in should only be a small fraction of the total cost of these.

Turtle Airships was going to build a reinforced dirigible that could hit 200+mph. Were supposed to be built in Asia a few years ago then went silent.

Air Force's Project Walrus was in 2007 I believe when they constructed their own. It's the big black triangle seen flying over the south west. Think it has to carry 500 tons minimum, a whole Army Battalion.

Really cheap way to fly. With current technology air ships can be reinforced for 200 mph flight. Almost half the speed of a cargo 747...but carry more and cheaper.
