Electric Luxury for The Elite

www.electricluxury.com

In late February Rolls Royce teased out ahead of the Geneva Motor Show it was developing a one off electric car project to see if its affluent ownership base was interested in green cars. The 102EX Phantom Experimental Electric (EE) has now been more fully revealed, with plans afoot to showcase it for feedback on future electric vehicle development...

It's ever so reassuring to know as the reserve currency inflates & the price of oil sky rockets, the instigators & their pals (who could comfortably afford it come to that) need not actually be affected at all. While the rest of us dirty dogs burn fuel, not to mention a great big hole in the pocket.

Oh the irony.

Is this solar, will it have some back up source of power? I thought the electrical grid was going to go out, so I'm not sure how valuable this will be without alternative power supplies. I guess they're failing to say what kind of systems the wealthy use, instead of our power grid.

I’m not trying to sound elitist here but…

Let’s say your car can hold 15 gallons of gas.

If gas costs $3 a gallon it takes you $45 to fill up.
If gas is $5 a gallon it costs you $75 to fill up.

No offense, but paying $45-75 three-to-four times a month is a jack-shat to someone who is buying a car that is worth over $300,000.

And that isn’t even the only car they drive. (less gas fill-ups)

The price of oil does not affect this people. Electric car or not... they wouldn't notice the problem until they run out of air and even then they have bunkers that can synthesize air.

LOL a single speed transmission. Sure it has the torque at low RPMs, but they could use less battery power if they had at least two gears. One gear for 0-65 and the other for 65-160, that way they can have two times the torque and use less battery power. Having two gears they could also use a motor half as powerful, get much better range and get its current specs.
