"Bug Chasers" "Gift Givers" and "Conversion Parties" for HIV

This was already started a few min ago, but was taken down by the OP. I had never heard of this before, and am amazed and sickend at the same time. I can't believe some people actually want to contract HIV, and others are actually willing to give HIV "the gift" to them. They go as far as to have parties to convert non-infected individuals, who are willing participants. This is just wrong. There was a short video of an interview with Anderson Cooper, but I don't know embed video so you'll have to look it up yourself.

Thanks to the OP for bringing this to light. I had never heard of this before and I think a lot of other people haven't heard of this as well.

There is an article from 2003 that was in Rolling Stone magazine called "Bug Chasers- The men who long to be HIV+" It is very interesting how popular this is amongst the gay community. Some men even say it will be the most erotic moment of their lives when they are contracting HIV. I still can't believe that this is actually going on with all of the bad things that HIV brings along with it.

From what I've been reading, as sick as these people sound, they seem to only give "the gift" to willing participants. It sounds like most of these people, as weird as it may seem, have morales when it come to this situation.

If 10% of people that get aids each year are "willing participants" or looking for " the gift". doesn't that mean that they will grow exponentially. The more people that have aids, the larger the " brotherhood" will be, and then doesn't that mean that more people will want to join the "brotherhood".

The harm that HIV causes has been documented and discussed since the virus made its debut. There has been millions of dollars spent on HIV education, and yet these people still choose to do this. The education programs aimed towards HIV awareness seem to be dwindling out, soon they may even not exist. HIV and AIDS seems to be talke about less and less these days because of the advancements of medicine. I think that the U.S. needs to do a better job making people aware that AIDS/HIV is not a gift and educate people about this "bug chasers" "gift givers" and "conversion parties" fad.

Yes that is the video. Thanks a lot, appreciate it! Has anyone seen that documentary? I guess there are a few documentaries out there about this issue. I still can't get over how disturbing this is.

That is not a first person account but very graphic gay orgy sex fantasy. Posting porn does not really give us further insight into this issue and we do not really need such specific details of how an individual is infected. People have rape fantasies as well but you can dicuss it without posting examples of it.
