You never know, he could be on the MI5's payroll or it could be that he is a true nut.
But it is an odd pattern how all of the major bad guys from Saddam to Osama to Awlaki were all either assets or allies of the US government.
Not to mention that many of these other over the top characters are quite suspect as well:
