I've been lurking for some time, thought I'd register so's I could askify some questions.

A little bit about me, Soupornuts

I enjoy :

long walks on the beach, bacon, science, philosophy, good music, tasty beers, cookies, tasteless humor , billiards, bad poetry, Kliban the cartoonist and bacon.

I'm mainly joining this forum to :

askify questions about things, mainly in the area of scientific and philisophical topics, also to peruse other peoples' mental effluvea in a half-assed attempt to feel somewhat normal...whatever that is

I guess that wraps this post up..

Thanks for having me ATS

~ Soupornuts

Thank you Sauron. Like I said, I've been lurking for some time, just to feel it out. seems to be a much more intelligent forum than most of them I've found, I'm happy to be a part of it.

Thanks

Welcome to ATS.

I don't know if bacon is going sky high in price where you live but it has jumped to about 6.00 for 12 ounces here in the deep south.

I catch every two for one bacon deal I can find.

Now I have enough bacon in the freezer to clog many hearts and bought more today.

We use bacon in most everything we cook here in Georgia. Yummy.

Hope you enjoy your time here.

Excellent. I'm in NC, a little North of you.

As a chef here for almost 15 years I've seen the prices of food skyrocket firsthand, bacon defintely on the list.

Rabbit bacon is actually quite tasty too, if you haven't already tried it, although the yield isn't all too much.

Thanks for the welcome

billiards

I'm sure 9 ball is fine and dandy for ya, but if I were a betting man I'd say your a one-pocket kinda guy?

Hmmm...it's more of a mood really, I guess it depends on the situation. In a bar, on pay tables, usually 9 ball, or 8 ball, in a quiet pool hall with old guys smoking cigars,...defintely 1 pocket.

Whether I'm drunkified has an effect on my choices too,...how about left-handed behind the back with a mop handle ?

I will go out back and grab a "switch" off the tree to run the table if the mood is right!!

Nice.

Used to be around 30 of the top 9 ball players in the US were from here ( western NC ) I've seen some pretty big money games in some of the pool halls, even got to shoot Mike Massey some 9 ball a few years back.

Those were de' days

I was a serious player in Denver, CO back in the 90's- I traveled a little bit (shooters in OK, minnesota-new mexico-california) and I beat NC's finest Johhny Archer in one game of nine ball in Aurora CO (exhibition) back in probably '95. Ahhh, the good old days! I break my old schon out every now and then and try and win a few bucks.

Nice. You've obviously played a few games. I miss playing, it's been years since I went out and tried to scare up some $$. Most , if not all of the good pool halls where I am, have becomre ghettofied to the point you can't even hear anything over the rap music and flat screen TV's, or even worse...red felt tables.

'sighs'

Hello, Soupornuts, and welcome. You are among fellow bacon lovers.
Always remember there are no stupid questions, more answers than you can process, and at least 6 billion opinions different from yours. If you have those things down, the rest is gravy.

Mmmm...bacon.....gravy......'thinks'.............I like where this is leading.

Ok, here's a question/s that I am asking people recently :

Have you ever done any experiments with telecognition ? Or do you experience/ not experience this phenomenon ?

Do you find anything on the beach? I always bring back more than I take and put it in the trash. I got a metal detector so I could dig up old pop tops and beer bottle caps. Welcome

I grew up on the beaches of the FL Keys, so yes, I have found things. In fact, several times in the past there have been massive fires on Key West and the refuse was bulldozed into the ocean on one side of the island, there are many good trinkets to be found there, at least there were years ago.
