Moderator Appreciation Day

I’m serious… I’m not poking fun… I think the mod’s need a day were… instead of us accusing them of being Nazi’s and being corrupt …We actually appreciate them and what they do for us… they ensure that ATS is a well oiled machine… without them this forum would be like most of the other ones I have seen… in total chaos… dozens of comments in a single thread where the only communication exchanged is F-U… without them ATS would not be one of the highlights of my day…

I don’t care when we have this day… But I think on that day… whatever day the Mods choose… that the ATS PTB should start a thread that is solely for peoples “Thank you” or whatever…

Anyways just a thought…

Oh and Mods… I would like the public to see this… if its in the wrong place… can you move it for me? But please don’t move it to the suggestions forum… I want everyones views….

Ps… maybe its just me that has accused them of being Corrupt Nazi’s… and it might have been in my head… but it’s the thought of good will that counts right?!?!

I vote for one day of the year that we should call William One Sac day.

Since they don't get paid for their job here at ATS, I think every day should be an appreciation day for the moderators.

Yep, I think SkepticOverlord should actually give us the keys to the website and let us make the banner!

I am with you. The mods here, whether I agree with them or not on something, keep this place the most civil site I've ever seen. Damned good job ATS Mods and thanks.

No disrespect but Seems strange that you would start a thread like this and you have only been member for 2 weeks..
Even if you were lurking for a long time, it would be hard to fully know what's going on the site, without knowing which members including mods are leaving replies, stars etc..
(I do find it amusing that you have accused the mods of being nazi's in that time)

Really.. You went to all the effort of creating another profile.. Just to leave that post..

We should have a day where everyone refrains from posting anything, then the mods can take the day off.

Hmm.. then I guess you have not met 12mk8all2c, DJarums, Ahabstar, projectvxn, Hefficide.. man there are so many.. hard to remember them all with a training video blasting in my ears..lol

Lots of good MEMBER Mods here... remember, Mods are members who have been asked and volunteered to do the thankless job of keeping this site in line and civil. Not an easy task when people slander, scream, rant, and attack and then wonder "why did I get dinged by a nazi moderator?!?!".

Actually I've been privy to ATS since 2004... I actually had a account back then that I kept for a year or so... and it got banned...
It was back then that I called them Nazi's and the result was me being banned... Since then I've grown up... I created an account on here in 2008 I used it for about a year... had a lot of changes going on in my life... big changes... I didnt log in for a long time ...forgot the password... blah blah... so I wanted to make a new account...

Just because my account is two weeks old doesn't mean I don't appreciate what the Founder and his Mods have done and are doing... Nothing strange about being thankful

On behalf of those Mods that have yet to see this... thank you kindly and sincerely.

The real appreciation is felt throughout though. It is truly uplifting to me when I see two or more people in a thread sincerely disagreeing with each other while maintaining a dialog about which both members can be proud. Or when the community dissects an issue or event down to its root... and also when we consistently have better quality and significantly faster news analysis than ANY of the MSM talking-head parade.

Mods are much like you all, we are just members who have taken their turn at trying to keep this place in as good a shape as we feel we all deserve.

Other places that need not be mentioned are slug-fests, name-calling, accusatory, and hotbeds of sensationally theatrical disrespect and bluster. With unchecked cliques and glorified hateful behavior. I suspect many of us are here because we don't belong there, and we could never fit in without becoming something we really don't like.

I must say, it is also important to remember and appreciate those who work largely behind the scenes (the almighty Admins) taking care of the infrastructure, listening to suggestions and painstakingly writing code to improve the site itself (like Skeptic Overlord,) the business folks (like the inimitable Springer) who make this place operationally feasible and strong. Those unsung gallant heroes who use their creativity and wit to create new features and aspects of ATS which more and more people come to enjoy (such as The Conspiracy Chicks, Nefermore, and The ATS Live! crew, and the highly talented ATS Media Pro.) And it's worth mentioning that despite the sometimes grueling added effort, they still make time to comment, learn, and discuss matters, because we are well aware that we don't know every damn thing.

I don't want to digress too far from the heartfelt "thank you," but there is one figure here who deserve special attention and appreciation in my opinion, namely our one and only Johnny Anonymous (pronounced a-noh-KNEE-muss) who has gently mentored many members in the fine art of serving our community with professionalism and dignity; while paradoxically maintaining an uplifting and playful disposition - despite how dense I (oops, I mean "we") can be sometimes. If Mods picked an appreciation day for one of the cornerstones of our community, I would vote it be for him.

At the end of the day however, I still insist that it is the membership that makes us more than another forum or web phenomenon.... because of you all we are a community; more so than some 'real life' communities out there.... but that is commentary for another day.

Me neither!... Oh...wait a minute...oops.

Seriously though, a nice U2U makes my day far more than having a "mod day" would....
We're just happy contributing to the success of a site we've loved for years.

I'm sorry you feel that way. In what way have we failed to meet your expectations? Minimalist posts occasionally have their place, but your was particularly devoid of information.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, and speaking for myself, I know I have made mistakes that have been disappointing to some members. But still, it's good to see that we don't repulse you so much as to make you leave the site and never return.

U2U me if there is any specific thing I can address to improve you experience.

That goes for anyone out there who feels the same way but feels uncomfortable posting their dissatisfaction.

the sentiment is appreciated. The staff work together, as a giant, dysfunctional support group, to help each other cope with the treatment we get for doing the job we do.

it's kinda cool when we bring in new staff and we get to go around the room and say "Hi, my name is Crakeur, and, according to the members, I am a:
a thug
Jackboot wearing nazi
paid shill
a disnfo agent
a government operative
a psyop specialist
an evil right wing nut
an evil left wing nut
an evil middle of the road nut
a jew
a muslim
a catholic
an atheist
a jew hater
a muslim hater
a catholic hater
an atheist hater
a tree hugging hippie
a corporate brown noser"
