it's a good thing these things don't pop up like thunder storms!!

It's cool but not really rare.
I saw it happen all the time with the grass burning in the Willamette Valley and cane fires on Maui.

there were dozens of fire tornados in my dream yesterday.. with a blackened cloudy sky, it was really creepy
