You understand our government is the one that came up with the 3/5ths rule for slaves in the Early United States where they were taxed at 3/5ths the rate of a White Male and counted as 3/5ths as a person for congressional representation.

Who is to say that Anonymous themselves are not sock puppets? Could they have been hired by a foreign country; thus, another nation's government is trying to take down the US, US corporations, and some religious groups?

Since these fake people do not have offline residences, there is no way you can prove or disprove their existence. Why? You don't know who is real or fake online.

Time to face it, people: The internet isn't going to save us-----it never was.

It's just another propaganda tool. We now effectively doubt our own membership even on message boards.Fancy software isn't even needed..just a few minimum wage paid college kids could influence millions.

The discrediting and doubting and sowing discord is a thousand times more effective than any internet kill-switch. Just watch how we squabble, doubt, suspect and argue on a relatively unimportant message board like this one.

Time to go old school to enact any 'change' we all seem to seek(with most of us not even knowing exactly what that 'change' even is.) The internet is the new CB radio---entertaining , but not to be taken seriously.

History will probably reflect the whole internet-era as just being best suited for porn after all.

And not much else.

We should get dogs to sniff out robot posters like in the Terminator flicks.

In the last month, i have noted a huge number of far-right posts. All lined with stars and supporting each other.

I have noticed this too, but it goes back longer than a month. It will also die down at times, then start back up again.

From some of the stuff I see on here, and elsewhere, it is very discouraging. Ah - in some ways they might be 'winning' - because, to me anyway, and I'm sure others - I get sick of reading it, I am reminded that it is *utterly pointless* to try to express a different point of view, I feel as if I am wasting my time, etc.

In Winsock, the IP_MULTICAST_LOOP option applies only to the receive path.
In the UNIX version, the IP_MULTICAST_LOOP option applies to the send path.

So by creating multiple ip addresses on your pc for receiving tcp/ip connections you spoof fake ips depending on which tcp connection you use to receive data. So any thing you send would be traced to fake ips you have for receiving. Unix traces the ip that sends so it shows true.On a forum you don't need to receive any tcp data back just a browser with the thread open on it as a extra party to view the posts. Only on Windows?

I was one of the early posters who had mentioned the word "Disinfo Agent" here at ATS simply due to the fact that this is/was widely used modus operandi by the US Govt. to infiltrate and disarm anything conspiratorial ranging from the Antiwar, the UFO to the Black Panther movement.

In the past they'd been Using the bought and paid for mass media.
Now that so many communicate via the Internet as well as gaining their news information. It doesn't at all surprise me to hear that Big Brother is getting "OnLine" as well to continue their disinformation campaign.

Which is exactly why this does not at all surprise me.
Being a computer developer, multi casting has been used for ages in performing software updates and which spammers gained access to the concept many years ago.
And now finally the US Govt. paid so called technical wizards.

Sock Puppets refers to IP Sockets, the fundamental low level interface upon which high level internet protocols are built--every thing from HTTP, to SSL, to POP3, to Kerberos, to UDP-Time.

Leave it to the govt. though, always slow to gain acceptance to new concepts and technologies....due to their massive bureaucratic measures.


But on a positive note, just like unmarked police cars, we have our ways in which to sniff them out already !!!

I wanted to get people's opinions on a job posting on HBGary's website... is this stuff commonplace in the IT world? All the reverse-engineering and copy-protection hacking?

Spotting a bot is pretty easy. They have no avatars, no sig, and only talk about one type of subject(always political). They also get huge numbers of stars based soley on an unbacked opinion, even when damning evidence is provided to show otherwise.
