Illinois Official to Make List of Gun Owners Public

In a showdown over the privacy rights of gun owners, the Illinois State Police are refusing to release a list identifying all firearm permit holders in the state after Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan determined that the information "must" be made public.

What would be the purpose of Madigan doing this? Why must it be made public?

Well, I certainly don't think that the rights to privacy should be violated in such a way... but for years, I've been hearing how having a gun makes you automatically safer. So, look at it this way; now criminals know who's houses to not hit. And for those poor people who get robbed, well the gun culture enthusiasts in America have ALWAYS blamed the victim anyway, so no harm done, right?
