Australian Banks playing silly buggers

Over the last few days, Australian banks have been a little dodgy. Early in the week the Commonwealth Bank (Australia's biggest bank) had a major "technical" glitch which left many customers without access to their funds and no way of transferring funds to other accounts.

Then today, Westpac Australia's second biggest bank, is suffering the same fate.

This isn't the first time this has happened to Australian banks. Just last year NAB had a major glitch which affected millions of Australians.

My question is, does this happen that much in the rest of the world? It's becoming a common occurrence around these parts. Is there something fishy going on? Australian banks say they are fine and dandy, but there are certainly under a lot of pressure from many fronts.

Should we start emptying our accounts of any savings and put them in safer alternatives?

Dunno, i don't use a bank as i do not support terrorism.
Yes you should pull all of your money out of the bank, they are just there to take your cash.
