Yes it is a free speech issue.
Like it or not Fox News is a member of the press as much as CNN or Media Matters or MSNBC
Text of the First Amendment:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."edit on 1-3-2011 by projectvxn because: (no reason given)

If you didn't want a debate then maybe you shouldn't have started this thread.

Now my hands are full of blood?
Yeah, I'm done with this kind of stupidity.
Enjoy your thread and lack of debate.
I'm out.
The attorneys for Fox, owned by media baron Rupert Murdoch, successfully argued the First Amendment gives broadcasters the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on the public airwaves.
The court did not dispute the heart of Akre's claim, that Fox pressured her to broadcast a false story to protect the broadcaster from having to defend the truth in court, as well as suffer the ire of irate advertisers.
Regardless whether this story was plant, true or not. FOX NEWS LIES! Period. They are part and parcel of the extreme right smear machine and supress divergent opinion.
