Father forced to beg squatters to get out of his new £1m home through the LETTERBOX!

Nahhh You guys have it wrong....

HIRE a group of people to go in and intimidate them them WHILE your having dinner with the mayor and/or the chief of police, discussing your dilemma.

Have the menacing looking guys go in and tell the sqwautters they want the property for THEM!!

Real mean like..(They work for scare scale)

You will have strong alibies..scare the squatters,and when they call the "bobby's" for protection, they can only look at themselves.

Where is this house address, might I add? Maybe someone who lives close can provide the family some military support. I'm sure there are special ops members on this board.

The guys buying a £1M home for god sake, yeah it sucks he can't move in for six weeks but It's not like he's gonna notice the cost of hiring lawyers.

The real issue of that news isn't that some rich guy got his home jacked by homeless people, its that according to that article homelessness is going up.

people are getting desperate, I know what its like I was homeless several years ago and while I believe that they should have left as soon as the owner arrived I can understand how desperate these poor people must feel.

Actually Monkofmimir this story gets worse the deeper you go ... £1 million house owner has had to rent a place as he is now officially homeless PLUS he's paying the mortgage for the new place. It was discussed in great detail on a U.K. radio station - I think with all his outgoings he then applied for legal aid and was denied !

Even 'regular' squatters were calling in and calling this bunch of squatters criminals - reason being they would only go for boarded up social housing due for demolition. Our laws are so soft and so in favour of the squatters that word has gotten out around Europe and unfortunately it is attracting immigrants to use these underhand squatters rights.

I'm sure some born and bred Brits could well be guilty of it too but the papers always focus on Romanians or Bulgarians , thus implying immigrants. I predict for sale and for let boards may soon become a thing of the past as it just advertises a potentially empty or soon to be vacated property !

Far as I see it, you can't break into your own home can you.... knock the door in then, once your in the doorway how can they remove you without force...which would surely then be some crime as they are forcibly removing you from your own home.

Then, with the co-operation of your neighbors make it hell to live there....loud music 24/....if they leave for food refuse to let them back in.... they'll soon all be gone.

Since the property is his, can he not remove all the doors and windows?

we need to find the people that make these stupid laws and wait untill they leave the house and move in with a new lock and see how long it takes them to get us thrown in jail, i bet you would be in jail before you could say stupid laws.

Squatting in England is "common law" - there is no actual legislation governing it is there?

Interesting that squatting does not exist in Scotland - it is illegal to do so and the property owner needs to give no notice to evict....although they can't break other laws to do so - eg they cant' assault teh tresspasers.

first take some good pictures of the invaders
develop said pictures

sneak over at night and assemble a "voodoo altar" with candles and the works in front of the entrance,
splash liberally with animal blood and preferably a dead goats head [guy can afford one surely], or if goats aren't feasible a decapitated chicken will do.

I've done this, though not for squatters and it scares the # out of the uninitiated/ignorant.

I was getting ready to post that he could get the police to remove them here in the US. Then I realized where it took place and how the law is. In that case well I am at a loss for words. I don't know how anybody knowing the house is not theirs could live with themselves when the owner has asked them to leave. Why don't they just leave?

Well to be fair the government here gives immigrants all these things and more and just try getting any of that # if you're a citizen. Maybe then they should just come to America & THEY will all these things will be handed to them on a silver platter?

This started way back in the 1600's when the UK was not a "gun-free" country, and it was seen as allowing the "ordinary people" to utilise land that had been abandoned, and mostly that is still how it is viewed.

This case makes the news because it is exceptional - there are an estimated 50,000 squats in hte UK, 30,000 of them in London.

Canada has a similar stupid law.

When I was in high school a buddies truck was stollen from the high school parking lot. The RCMP let him know two weeks later that it was on a reservation about 50km away. They couldn't take it back because it's illegal to take property from a native on a reservation. As long as the thief didn't leave the reservation the cops couldn't touch him.

After waiting another week for the guy to drive off the reservation my buddy gut a group together and about 20 people surrounded the house and "retreaved" his truck back. It was pretty trashed but he at leats got it back.
