Chinese police face down Middle East style protests

BEIJING -- Police and security officials displayed a massive show of force here and in other Chinese cities Sunday, trying to snuff out any hint of protests modeled on the uprisings in the Middle East. In Shanghai, several hundred people trying to gather were dispersed with a water truck.

The article is interesting. Of course, we all expect some dissatisfaction with the government by the people of China. Also, we expect the pre-emptive crackdown on any such public arranging.

What I didn't expect was the government to pre-emptively agree to eliminate corruption in the gov.

Take this with a grain of salt. Washington post has a history of stretching the truth a bit. (Doesn't every media outlet?)

As a liberal media source their agenda is to overthrow the current capitalist system here in America, and the only way to do that is to make people think that everyone else in the world is protesting their governments. They hope these types of stories will make it seem like its the norm to protest the government....SO even the slightest rebellion in another country will be blown completely out of proportion by liberal media bias.

I am surprised the Chinese people actually got up the courage to protest since the Chinese government is usually pretty brutal in squashing any dissent.
