Ok.
Because Elenin has a long period, low inclination orbit (which means it would spend a while traversing the asteroid belt), some astronomers decided it would be a good idea to see if it would make any close approaches to any asteroids. They used Artemis, an orbital simulator, which predicted close approaches to 4 asteroids. They hope to detect gravitational effects on the comet but are not very optimistic about being able to do so because the effects will be so slight.

The first asteroid was passed on February 28th.

I must have misunderstood when you mistakenly referred to the Kuiper Belt and said this

ok then you seem to know it all you make sense of it and get back to us with your hypothesis.

I thought you were asking me what the astronomers were doing. That's why I explained it.

Chill ,Elenine is new to the scene ,and I think all parties agree to disagree on intellectual aspects until more data comes in,although there are comets with remarkable attributes,it is early days yet.
Agreed, and leave it at that there are valid attributes on both sides,I still have a perspective of scientific knowledge that contributes to recent discoveries of comet behaviour .Peace
