True.

I've never seen anyone wearing a pocket watch around their neck.

It looks like a photo is supposed to be inside, not a number.
Maybe the OP could trace it out, but I don't see any numbers at all.

It's quite blurry.

Okay okay okay....I know it's a locket. My bad. However I don't believe any of the details in these DIA murals are without significance and when I first looked at the picture one of the first things that kind of jumped out at me was this "open" locket. The fact that it was open draws your attention to it and there is probably some significance to it.
I too, wonder who is this person in the locket and what message was the artist conveying?

Its not without significance, Chicano art is all about abstract symbolism and messages. DIA isn't the only place with murals like this, I would research the movement, its pretty interesting.
