It may have something to do with the benefits that Americans enjoy as a result of their governments policies. They have a very high standard of living as a result of cheap energy. The cost of everything in the USA is cheaper than here especially housing and food. So most Americans benefit from the "clandestine empire" and the results of very aggressive policies with other countries.

I think that when I see Americans panicking about the costs of social welfare and expressing fears about the "europeanisation" of the USA they are revealing the fact that they care more about wealth retention than the welfare of their less fortunate neighbours.

America retains its wealth by exploiting weaker countries and by using war and money to pervert the markets.

That's my take on it anyway after watching and listening to Noam Chomsky, Oliver Stone, John Perkins and Zeitgeist.

Most Americans are completely brainwashed by TV, and they think everything is fine half the time. When Repubs are in power the dems are mad, and vice versa.

This way only half the country can be mad at one time, and the half that isn't mad helps TPTB to quiet the ones who are.

There is a small minority of people who see through the BS, but I'll tell you they are hard to find.

I honestly think ATS will make some progress when people stop using the tired old phrases " brainwashed by television", "busy watching American idol', "couch potatoes" etc. We get it. Let it go.

According to Naomi Wolf, protests in America are not effective anymore because their importance has been reduced. The first Amendment guarantees freedom of assembly and that Congress does not have the right to make a law restricting that right. With restrictions, the protest is limited to a certain area instead of being a collective effort by the people and for the people.

Another problem is that you have saboteurs who try to steer the protest to be violent, thus damaging credibility. And because the media today, America's media, has little integrity, you are also at risk of being called "extremist" or "right-wing terrorists". The media is important to protesters because without the media, you have no voice.

A third problem is that, as Chomsky has stated, Americans are turned and kepy away from the real issues they face. There is a huge effort going on by Congress and the like to keep the American public blind. So, it is not Americans' fault entirely. It is the result of a sleeping public and an aggressive government.

The MSM has overwhelmed us with confuse and conquer tactics. There is so much info and so many conflicting opinions it's very hard to sort out. Most people choose to turn their backs and worry about their own personal lives.

I say just give it time ... it will happen and with force. While I totally agree with the reasons presented in this thread, one thing for sure is that we won't sit still when we have no cash, no food and nowhere to sleep. When we finally realize - and I mean everyone - that the MSM has been telling us everything is okay when actually it isn't, the storm will start.

You can see the MSM posting stories about people being shot in the news with some regularity, so you know they are trying to get the guns and the sooner the better (from their perspective). Once this becomes THE issue in the MSM, then the NWO has formally hit the US doorstep and is in the final stages of its endgame.

My recommendation: run TOWARDS the alien space ships when they come - it's our only way out.

Most the United States' protesting is done online nowadays, hence the absence of feet on the street. In a large country, such as the U.S., it's not feasible for many Americans to pack up and haul off to Capitol Hill for every issue that arises.

One problem with online protesting, it's easy to make complaints and thus it's also easily dismissed.

protests are not always about food. and sometimes is about being fooled.

being lied . being disrespected . about some humanistic matters like freedom.

Many Americans live a very nice life and don't need to protest is the simple fact. Heck even those in poverty have food on the table Xbox in their hands big screen in front of em etc. etc. etc. Police/Fire/Ambulance service right around the corner and a grocery store stocked with all one needs down the block. What is there to really protest about? You get pissed at your reps you let em know at the ballot box no need to run around whining and howling. Now people are protesting in the middle east because they want what we have..........freedom.

I feel it has nothing to do with what you call your creator or how you serve him, just as your holy book says there is only one god, you may consider Muhammad his prophet, but others may differ. When governments abuse there sense of what single god the state should serve, that is when turmoil erupts. Because of certain shariah laws in certain countries, those oppressed chose go against that entity which was religion that caused them so much strife. The US on the other hand is experiencing a different type of oppression.
