I take it that you are from America....because most woman of the world would actually disagree with your statement....considering as i said, that it is a strange America practice to have so many males circumcised each year. Whatever floats your boat in the end, just thought i would correct you on that point though.

I have to admit that I do wonder how cultural this is to America.. since as I mentioned in my last post some 20% of the people around here are either Jewish or of Jewish decent and I still know of no one who is circumcised.

And I have yet to meet a woman who agrees with you.. all of the ones I have spoken to prefer their men complete and find the idea of a circumcised ones ugly. for me your comments reinforce my feeling this is a cultural thing.

I have a LOT of female friends. I dont know even one who prefers an uncircumcised penis. All of them seem to agree its gross..perhaps its a generational thing? I am 24. The women I know are all my age...its an interesting thought.

you raise a good point though. perhaps it is just americans...what about canada? any canadians here to chime in? what about you british lads? I am american yes, but I am in the uk right now. All my friends here are older though, around 35-55, and well most of them are circumcised too (dont ask how I know lol). I would really be interested to find out more about this, whether it is cultural or generational or a mixture of both or other factors.

I think it is prevalent in Canada as well, and as i said in my other post roughly 1% of British males are circumcised at birth, and that percentage is falling as the medical community tries to get rid of the practice all together. You can apply that to most other European countries as well. Oh and i do think it is a mix of generational and cultural, but the cultural aspect is definitely the biggest factor in America...because many people still seem to believe the myths associated with circumcision.

Many American women are fairly sexually repressed and somewhat disconnected from the entire event. A significant amount of the "close your eyes and think of England" attitude towards sex exists there.

The questions and lack of general knowledge and comfort around sexuality is seriously retarded - and I mean that in the "behind the times, lacking" sort of way.

So, if women in the US this gal knows think boys parts are yucky - well that is quite likely. The sexual education and general maturity level around sexuality is at least 20 years behind my nations, and we are neighbours.

(there is a reason why the American bars on the border often announce when a bus load of Canadian women are coming in, and it raises cheers.)

Of all the "unnatural" customs than humans insist upon, I'd say circumcision is one of the lesser ones to worry about.

I consider the vaccination issue to be far more problematic.

OMgod that hurt my sides to read your post. I just knew when we last argued on some forgettable subject we would indeed find something we could relate to! I had NO IDEA it would be discussing a beautiful, clean shining german helmet verses an old fashioned sausage still in the wrapper.

Agreed that the people who argue the matter are stuck not able to make that decision now because they are chicken to do it.

Canada's rate of circumcision has fallen drastically over the last several decades to about 30% of newborn boys.

If you have ever seen a porno, I doubt they would make it to the boxoffice if the beautiful penis was hidden or having to be untucked at every repositioning.

Its got nothing to do with thinking boys parts are yucky. They dont think the penis itself is 'yucky', its just aesthetic. And circumcision doesnt cause problems for the male, so it cant be compared to 'what if men thought your clitoris was disgusting'. It just doesnt compare.

But can you provide any sources to illustrate the 'myths' of circumcision you talk about?

My boyfriend is english, and is circumcised. He was not circumcised as a baby because his father refused it. The doctor told him when he was born that if he didnt circumcise him, he would have major problems later in life. Because of this, the first time he had sex his foreskin actually ripped. It caused him to have psychological damage so much so that he cannot climax from masturbation. If his father had listened to the doctor, he would not have had the psychological damage. So circumcision DOES solve problems..

I can't help feeling that many circumcised men suffer from an inferiority complex about not having a complete manhood ( there have been many examples on this thread alone ).

It appears that there are many people bending over backwards to, more than anything, convince themselves that it's better for them to not have the complete set of goods down there.

This is why I'm thinking that there's a negative psychological effect that this procedure may cause men who were subjected to it as a baby. It's this psychological effect that also leads so many to inflict the same thing on to their new-born baby.

There's a vicious circle like this that occurs in many forms of abuse.

I'm guessing it depends on what is the "norm" all my friends growing up (I'm in my early 40s) where not circumcised and by extension neither where our fathers, brothers, so I guess for the girls, this was their norm, where as it is not your norm if that makes sense.

ETA:The above is a rubbish response, which goes to show how distracted I am, so will be backing out of this thread

Get a shrink, and get some sense on how to live. I hammered my thumb the first time I used a hammer, but I didn't cut my thumb off, I am not traumatized by it, and I can still use a damn hammer.

Get some education on what it means to have and use a penis with a foreskin. It isn't rocket science.

Oh, and I can tie the American's views on foreskin to a conspiracy - you know, just to keep this on topic.

Infant foreskins are used by pharm, and cosmetics companies. They need their supply, so funding and promoting cutting up your boys to feed their need for a cheap supply of a consumer product is in their best interests.

Get some sense on how to live? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Because I, and the majority of the people around me, prefer a circumcised penis? I also asked you to back up your statement that the concensus on circumcision is riddled with myth..where is the evidence for that?

My boyfriend was circumcised out of necessity. His foreskin was too tight. It caused him a lot of discomfort and pain when he first had sex because as I said, it ripped. For him to be circumcised was the right thing to do and ultimately the only option for him. 30 years later he is quite happy with it still, and even he says he remembers before the incident that he did not like having foreskin and prefers how it is now.

I suppose its just preference, but I have yet to see any real evidence that an uncircumcised penis is better.

There are better ways to deal with a tight foreskin than cutting it off However, he was an adult so if he prefered cutting it off to looking into those options that's his right. I think its a bit of over-kill for a need for some psychologoical help and picking up a book about it - but hey.

Your fetish preference in screwing isn't a sufficient reason to lop off a body part.

But you've not offered anything to suggest that some of the pro-circumcision statements from other posters here are myth? Like I think someone mentioned it being good for prevention of penile cancer, infections, etc. I am still waiting..

If the foreskin had only been repaired, it still would have been too tight. What other way to deal with it is there? If you know, why dont you tell us. He would have had the same problem over and over if it had not been removed.
