Central Coast Calif: Went wine tasting today, cold but no snow...then about 5:00pm it got COLD! Started to hail. Mountains around us were getting snow. ( I know what COLD is, lived in Wyoming for 10 years!)

about 3.5 years ao I witnessed a bit of a "snow storm" in SF.
I was living inu the outer missio district and it 'corn snowed' about 2".

I took pics and will have to. post them sometime.

the big deal about the snow in SF is if it freezes here and creates icy roads, the city will shut down. period.
it's a very " hilly" city.

I remember that! The parking lot at Stonestown had about an inch and a half of that ice ball slush covering the entire lot. Worst part of that were the crunching of cars on 19th Ave and watching the mall security car with its yellow light bar flashing as it spins in circles in the lot.

Actually the City was prepared for icy conditions on the steepest hills. They had a number of dumptrucks filled with gravel. But they didn't have to use it.
