This has been discussed in many forums before and I would like to see a poll from ATS members on who they think would win. I do not know how to setup a poll in these forums (If a mod could help that would be great)
Below I will make 2 posts - one for China and one for USA and people can star who they think will win, if you do not wish to vote or think it would be stalemate or other simply don't vote.
After these 2 voting posts anyone can backup their point of view as per normal.

Neither. They would both destroy each other. Then Russia would take over.

Global Thermonuclear War.................

No one survives..................except Las Cucarachas and Glen Beck

Remeniscent of Twilight Zone. Glen would be all alone with his chalk board. Alas though, there is no chalk!

It would be a draw, but just in case, we need to CUT all foreign aid to countries like Egypt, Israel, and the lot of them immediately, and invest in dusting off some of our old factories and retooling them, get the farms cranking again to actually make more things here again. (Farms without Monsanto, thank you very much). But that's just me.

Since I can not vote I will post my opinion here:

I think China would win. The reason is because I think it would be a very long drawn out battle to reach a conclusion. While the USA posseses superior technology and firepower, I doubt their economy would last the distance to keep supplying that firepower, I do understand China and the USA are co dependant economically but I do not think it would be hard for China to turn it's existing factories in to weapon producing factories. We have already seen the toll small wars have taken on America's economy. I also believe man power usually win's in the long run - people are an incredibly resiliant and smart weapon, we are able to go places machines can not - think of unconverntional tactics that machines can not. I think if nukes come in to play it's game over for everyone anyway - so I do not think they would be used.

I hope I never see the day this war happens - but if it did I believe China would come out ahead.

Uhh.. lets start by defining terms:

whats "versus"and
what do you consider a "win"?

1). China quits buying our paper the dollar is "relieved of its duty"as world reserve currency and falls like a rock.
Americans poorer: All chinas previous u.s. investments backed by physical land give away by current administration.China "wins".

2) Angry bankers deny china the use of the new world currency (the imf"s special drawing right
the "SDR" America feeds itself with its own products ( a days labor for a quart of wheat?) China is ostracized by the west and starves amidst container loads of cheap toxic "hello kitty " toys"sitting on the docks with no markets to be
found.Former USA ( whats left standing) : "wins"

3) Tempers boil over over during Tuesday night airing of battle of the iron chef's "mandarin challenge" , Chinese submarine sneaks close to the U.S.coast and launches one missile and detonates a nuclear warhead 300 miles in altitude over the center of the U.S. Emp takes out our electrical grid and distribution equipment. Highly technological American society goes dark for 3 years. America retaliates with full out icbm launches; burns china into a crispy radioactive cinder zero survivors : 6 mean;bloodied; dirty; hungry; rangey; American civilian survivalists and underground bunker'd U.S. military surive the3years to "WIN"??

I see it as a draw neither side could sucseed at invading the onther.

so the only other option would be nukes, again a draw.

Why fight each other when both nations are trying to be so like one another?

China wants to be a consuming and wasteful society like the U.S.

The U.S. wants to have all the authoritarian goodies to control the thoughts and actions of the population.

Of course, neither would win.

It is my opinion that the stakes are too high for either to send the first hit.

Sooner or later all countries will realize we need each other.

Peace

Yeah it would be tactical nukes first and whoever fires first the rest of the world becomes their enemy. Probably if you took the first hit and turned the other cheek so to say the shooter is in a very bad position and what would they gain? A nuclear wasteland?

Ahh the good v the bad, Depends who's side the Aliens are on. If as the recent evidence suggests them fall on the side of the chinese, then unfortunatly all those missiles stockpilled will be utterly useless when those pesky Aliens jam the systems. If the Aliens have choose the chinese then surely that makes them the good guys, right,

Stalemate.... Nobody wins and a possible reset for the entire world. An all out war between China and USA wouldn't be just between China and USA. ALL allies of both sides would chime in. Chances are though in the end nuclear blows will be thrown and when that happens we will all be waking up to nuclear winter across most the globe. Nice to know you...
