I agree and I apologise, I really wasn't trying to turn this into a conspiracy sight seeing tour.
By snapping I turned into the aforementioned moron my bad.
Peace all.

The airport there is closed. Ambulances are in short supply so Police doing pick ups. TV3 has unedited live stream now:
www.heraldsun.com.au...

It's a bloody mess there. There has been multiple fatalities and people caught under rumble and fallen buildings. Buildings around Cathedral Square down and CHCH Cathedral took a massive hit.

Got a mate who works in Aviation there...they're checking the runways now to see if they are usable for any emergency flights in and out etc.

They've also been advised to put the hussle on it as the PM is planning on flying in after the Parliament/Civil Defence meeting he's supposed to be having at 3pm (in like 5mins).

...maybe our PM can take one of them flash new BMW Limos he reckons he knew nothing about...

Working in the Hospital Depts here in Wellington we're getting updates on the situation there in case we need to head down to deal with whatever.
Hospitals/Emergency Services there are maxed...injured being transported via Police Cars and comandeered Taxis etc.
We've making room where we can here in preparation for possibly receiving any Life Flights/Criticals etc coming out of ChCh...

Heart goes out to everyone there...bad bad juju...

Yeah, watching TV3s live coverage now.. they've been showing alot of footage of the Pyne Gould Guinness building(?) and one employee mentioned at least 200 people worked in it, and its top 3 floors, bar the bottom floor is just a pancake of scrap metal... bringing out a lot of injured from off the roof it seems, and you can hear screams coming from inside.

not pretty...

Edit:- Hmm damn. seems there where people up the Catherdral tower then it came down... been up that tower as a kid, kinda cramped if I remember rightly

So do 9, 7 and abc, its all the same footage though. The images im seeing now are a lot worse than the last quake, i'm not so sure what they mean about "mass deaths" though so I guess we'll have to wait for official numbers.

aftershocks continue.....

edit to add; actually they are showing different footage now

This is much much worse because it happened during business hours whereas in Sept's earthquake everyone was asleep in their homes.

There are many casualities and the numbers still alive under the rubble, who knows.

CHCH hospital was evacuated and patients flown to other hospitals throughout NZ.

ALL flights nationwide in NZ are cancelled.

This is BAD BAD BAD.....
