Mars Rover Captures Unidentified Object

Topic started on 16-7-2004 @ 09:58 AM by jaxshan

Is it just me or is there a Unidentified Object in the sky in the newest Mars Rover Picture?: marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov...

marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov
NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Spirit took this image with its front hazard-avoidance camera on sol 187 (July 13, 2004). Spirit is currently at a location called "Engineering Flats," where it is has been undergoing a "tune-up.

The little dark spec? That could be anything from a meteor to a spec of dust near the camera.

Or did you just need ATS points?

I thinbk far more likely is that it is a satalite in orbit-we have many there in Mars orbit, it could even be the one the rover communicates with to send data to Earth.

or it could just be a speck of dust on the camera-lense. you also see a similar "spot" on the left side of the picture.

It's dust! Look at images from the same front hazcam on the days before and after. The same object is there. Same size, same shape, same position.
