My God, how old are you child ?

Your ideas could be helped so much if you only had a bit better diction (that would translate writing ability, grammar and spelling).

As for the "concealed carry permit", which I believe you are attempting to address, one must be an adult to apply for one (probably leaving you out). Additionally, one only NEEDS a permit to conceal carry. Everyone has a right to open carry or have a gun in their home, WITHOUT a permit.

Gun ownership is part of the American way (and intended only for adults), so perhaps you'd be more comfortable when you become "of age" in, oh say Canada where you could blissfully be devoid of the mean old gun. Now go along and play with the other children please.

I don't even own a gun, and I'm 100% against what you just said in reality, but on paper I see where your goin with this.

Guns are not the problem, society and our evolution is. We do not live in a world with enlightened people, we live with many savages and people that are crazy that do not care if they kill you to take the $40 bucks out of your pocket. Just because it's never happened to you, does not mean it does not happen, I lost $560 bucks one day from being robbed, I was not doing anything wrong besides going to work, so who are you to tell me I cannot defend myself because your life has been taken care of and violence is not an every day thing for you?

Grow up

That said I always carry pocket knives now

Well, nothing wrong with carrying/owning a gun IMHO. At least we know what that person is about when we realize they have a gun on them. No problem here. What is really up for speculation is those damn effeminate males (I don't mean gays) when they carry guns? What exactly is their agenda? That scares me more...

How ignorant can you be? yea if the rest of the world sat at the same bar and had a drink. but they dont ,they are out there, with guns waiting to rape steal and hurt you.

I bet you wish you could of travled back in time and tell our forfathers not to use guns, just go to a bar and drink, let the red coats keep the guns,Itll all work out, and try and reason with them.

Its people like you who make me sick, you dont read your histroy, you only spout media bull. Try reading a book!

Leave this country! get out of our free country!., why dont you try mexico? Im sure you would change your tune if you lived in juarez.
The reason americans need guns is in order to fight back when tptb assault your home in order to lock you up in an internment camp, in order to defend your self when the shiz hits the fan, hunt for food and save lives.

If I was at the shooting in arizona I would of pulled my gun and shot that man dead, and saved lives in the prosses.
when I am out and my gun is on my side wich it always is,its not a macho thing. You are just ignorant.
I pull up to a gas station and look at all the gangsters walking in and out and think to myself " whers my gun, how much amo is in it?, and let any one of them try and rob this place with my wife in there"

But for you they would pull a gun, put it in your wifes face, you would run in crying for them not to hurt her, they get nevus and shoot every one, including you. as you lay there dying, your last thought is "if you just had a gun, we two might still be alive". as the only ones who have a gun "in your world" take half an hour to arive.

Its guns that keep the powers that be from a total dictatorship. Its guns that keep them so afraid of the american people and you and me free for now!. Its guns that will save us when it does come down to it. But your so sure of what glen beck says ,so sure of what fox tells you, so sure that we in america are ok.
WELL ITS NOT! and its comeing down to it. When it does I hope I run into you. begging for food. Trying to catch a fish like you saw in the movie cast away and starving. I will hold up my gun in your face and laugh. walk away and leave you to your "no gun "existance,to starve.

I know exectly what you are, your here in order to get people riled up so you can see who angry posts and backs guns. then you show up all dressed in black with your friends raiding my house claiming child porn, drug bust, terrorist plot, or maybe you shoot up a function and them blame me. hiding me from the media and any one who I could tell the truth to about being set up, then disapier me in some far away land.
F-YOU goverment agent!

I beleve the uprising has begun, the lines drawn, all thats left is for the bullets to start flying. It was started by them when they ignore the constitution, build camps, use lrads agenst peacfull protesters, punish land owners rewarding illegals, use fake tragidies to take away our rights and try to regulate our guns. the war is on its just the american people havent figured it out yet. Theres a war on us while we sit and watch american idol, and the simpsons. you are just to mesmorized by all this stuff to relize ther is no more america as you imagine it to be, Its all gone washed away by crimainals and theives.and now they are warring on us as we speak.even killing us in the streets and our own homes.well not mine thanks to guns!

again, see you for who you are and Im not impressed or the least bit afraid, locked and loaded with my finger on the triger.ARE YOU FROTHING AT THE MOUTH YET? In order to protect my family as we avoid the battle.
you need to watch "the road" Imagine its you and your son then say no guns!

Anyone who clings to any sort of weapon (be it a gun, knife, bat or mace) to bolster his macho image is a weak, weak man, indeed.

I love guns. I own guns. I shoot them and clean them and keep them safe.

I don't carry them around. I don't break them out to show my friends. In fact, most people don't know I own guns.

I use them when I feel like they've been put away for too long and may need to be clean. Otherwise, they'll stay where they are until I NEED them. In other words ... until I have to defend myself and my family or property or when I need to feed my family.

Guns do not make me a tougher man. They do not add to my image anymore than my old beat-up car does. They are a tool ... much like the shovel in my garage.

you can always tell that the kind of people who make these threads are the kind that have never been in, nor can comprehend the situation where the usage of a gun as absolutely necessary.

what you gonna do ''tough guy'', shoot that band of looters with your ''mind power''? NO you're not... you're gonna sit there while these looters tear up your house while one holds a gun to your head, and while others rape your daughter and wife which that ''intelligent brain'' got you. And after all this is over (considering they leave your scrawny ass alive) you will be sitting there with a violated daughter and wife, no valuable posessions and no integrity.

you will be feeling pretty damn stupid then.

With respect: honestly you do not sound like someone who needs to carry a gun. While there are certainly those who carry out of a need to feel "macho," most responsible carriers understand that carrying is a huge responsibility and not something to be taken lightly.

One of the cardinal rules of carrying is to NOT act "macho" with your weapon. Doing so is the surest way to end up on the wrong side of the jail bars or at worst needlessly killing or being killed. Actions like that always discredit responsible carriers as well, and it is infuriating.

I carry to protect my family, to protect myself, and to protect my fellow man should any yahoo decide to go off his rocker and start shooting up the place. It is a huge responsibility and one that I gladly accept.

It does sound like you need to continue to "tame the beast." You should stop worrying about appearing macho at all. The most respectable man is one who is comfortable in his own skin with nothing to prove to anyone other than himself. Instead of working on being macho, work on a bit of humility. And please, for the sake of all of us other responsible gun owners, don't buy a gun until you mature a few more years, I'd hate to see you on tv for doing something stupid.

Your "human mind" can be opened like a can of beans by a well placed round. Anyone carrying a gun for the reasons you describe should not be carrying a gun at all, but anyone thinking their intellect can outmanuever a bullet is going to make for an easy target.

Guns are just tools. I have been in many fights, while carrying my gun, and never considered pulling it out. I have even been questioned by police, while carrying my gun, during a fight, and I went on my merry way without incident or charges.

Guns are a deterrent and a means to stop a would-be attacker when you fear for your life. They should not make you bolder or harder or more macho in any way. In fact, I am much more patient and I try at all costs to avoid any confrontation when I am armed, because of the potential for escalation. When I am not armed, I might speak my mind a little more freely and readily jump into a fray!

Intellect is highly important, so are self-defense skills, so is a cool head and a strategy, and so is carrying a gun as a last resort. None of those things can substitute for another, you need them all.

You do realize that revolvers havent needed to be cocked since the 1870's? all you do is pull the trigger...well unless you go out of your way to buy a single action. Almost no one carries a gun that needs to be cocked before each shot. Im sorry but if you walked up on me with a spray can and a lighter I'd have atleast 3 bullets in you before you hit the ground. I'm not trying to be a macho man but a large amount if not most gun owners practice pulling our guns and hitting the target as fast as humanly possible.

From Sarah Thompson M.D.

Another defense mechanism commonly utilized by supporters of gun control is denial. Denial is simply refusing to accept the reality of a given situation. For example, consider a woman whose husband starts coming home late, has strange perfume on his clothes, and starts charging flowers and jewelry on his credit card. She may get extremely angry at a well-meaning friend who suggests that her husband is having an affair. The reality is obvious, but the wronged wife is so threatened by her husband's infidelity that she is unable to accept it, and so denies its existence.

Anti-gun people do the same thing. It's obvious that we live in a dangerous society, where criminals attack innocent people. Just about everyone has been, or knows someone who has been, victimized. It's equally obvious that law enforcement can't protect everyone everywhere 24 hours a day. Extensive scholarly research demonstrates that the police have no legal duty to protect you and that firearm ownership is the most effective way to protect yourself and your family. There is irrefutable evidence that victim disarmament nearly always precedes genocide. Nonetheless, the anti-gun folks insist, despite all evidence to the contrary, that "the police will protect you", "this is a safe neighborhood" and "it can't happen here", where "it" is everything from mugging to mass murder.

Anti-gun people who refuse to accept the reality of the proven and very serious dangers of civilian disarmament are using denial to protect themselves from the anxiety of feeling helpless and vulnerable. Likewise, gun owners who insist that "the government will never confiscate my guns" are also using denial to protect themselves from the anxiety of contemplating being forcibly disarmed and rendered helpless and vulnerable.

Defense mechanisms distort reality

Because defense mechanisms distort reality in order to avoid unpleasant emotions, the person who uses them has an impaired ability to recognize and accept reality. This explains why my e-mail correspondent and many other anti-gun people persist in believing that their neighbors and co- workers will become mass murderers if allowed to own firearms.

People who legally carry concealed firearms are actually less violent and less prone to criminal activity of all kinds than is the general population. A person who has a clean record, has passed an FBI background check, undergone firearms training, and spent several hundred dollars to get a permit and a firearm, is highly unlikely to choose to murder a neighbor. Doing so would result in his facing a police manhunt, a trial, prison, possibly capital punishment, and the destruction of his family, job, and reputation. Obviously it would make no sense for such a person to shoot a neighbor - except in self-defense. Equally obviously, the anti-gun person who believes that malicious shootings by ordinary gun owners are likely to occur is not in touch with reality.

The whole article is available on the Jews For The Preservation Of Firearms Ownership website. It is a great resource for the gun owner completely confused by the anti-gun stance. It is even better for the anti-gun person. It holds a mirror up to them and allows them to understand their behavior. The article has footnotes and is researched.

I couldn't even finish your strange rantings because of all the distracting emocons you got all over the place? Whats the matter, you scared to shoot a gun?

I would like to see you use your "god given most dangerous weapon" of the human mind against a dark thug, in a dark alley, in the middle of a dark night, who is "asking" for a hand out.

tyranny22 I agree with you 100%

Also are people in here saying they will shoot a unarmed man? Sounds like a few of you are.

I own several guns, as stated they are tools and only needed when defending yourself against someone else with a weapon or multiple attackers in which their is no choice.

But i do not brag about my guns,, just look in this thread you see many people come off like its something to brag about..

LOOK AT ME I OWN A GUN IM TOUGH. No your not. Most are probably fat out of shape and couldn't take out 1 unarmed guy without your gun.

Owning a gun is cool but it doesn't make you a real live Dirty Harry just like owning a Pit Bull doesnt make you a tough guy. Point is its nothing to BRAG about.

Uhm, ima "girl" and I carry a beretta, and sometimes a six shooter, and let's not mention our rifle. Your thread title leaves me wondering if that makes me a "macho" man?

Well, I do most of the "mans" work around here while my husband loves to cook and he does the laundry so I guess that all makes since. Oh, he carries one too, darn-it there goes that theory.

I couldn't resist

A crippled/disabled man would be at a disadvantage if he was attacked by someone with 2 good arms and 2 good legs. So yes, he should be able to shoot an unarmed man.

If he has a 9mm pistol with rubber bullets he's not going to kill anyone unless it's point blank range. Neither would he kill anyone who broke into his house if he shot the man with a .410 shotgun shooting rock salt at someone or rubber balls.

He'd just make them run for their life, not kill them. We have lots of choices now for non lethal shooting of bad guys. Taser pistols, directed energy weapons....this is where we're going. There will always be bad people trying to kill us. Much of the world wants to kill Americans. If you don't want to protect yourself you're free to take that choice and allow yourself to be killed. Put a sign in your front yard saying "this home is gun free" to celebrate that choice. Don't be shocked when you're robbed at knife point by a bunch of illegals in the middle of the night and made their enjoyment tool for the night as well. They'll enjoy your decision to not defend your own life.
