Related articles: World > Asia Pacific Bulusan Volcano, or Mount Bulusan, erupted Sunday in the Philippines, spewing clouds of ash in the atmosphere and forcing thousands of locals to flee, local newspapers reported.

More than 1,000 families in the towns of Irosin and Juban in the province of Sorsogon were evacuated when Mount Bulusan exploded at around 7:22 a.m. on Sunday, spewing steam and ash more than a mile into the sky, the Manila Bulletin said, citing Philippines Office of Civil Defense Region 5 Director Raffy Alejandro.

The eruption lasted for more than nine minutes, Ed Laguerta at the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology told the Manila Times.

The Bulusan volcano is approximately 150 miles southeast of Manila, the Philippines capital, and is the highest point in Sorsogon.

No casualties or injuries have been reported.

Yeah it was the best pic I found, definitely has a "wow" factor to it!

The article linked to it is ok as well, I especially liked the following quote:

"We're also asking aircraft to avoid the volcano,"
