I get what you are saying.

I know a few members have changed their avys and I was like what the heck! Heff was definitely one. I saw him post in a thread and thought he was Sauron with a new avy lol

I change mine depending on my mood or how many u2u's I get telling me how evil I am lol My Nazi Penguin and the one of me were my favs probably and that is because the reaction people gave. I find it silly people judge based on avys. Some avys if I want to know what it's about I just u2u the member...Speaking of which what is yours of?

I just can't get mine to show.
Blasted annoying.

I changed mine yesterday.
The answer being simply because I wanted to. Change is good every now and then, things get stale otherwise.
I was going to try and make it a bit more involved but I got bored with the process as I don't really have teh skills, still might though.

I must humbly request that someone please direct me to the place that will allow me to upload an Avatar.

After lurking for years, I finally began contributing a short while ago, but have yet to find the instructions for uploading Avatars. Is there anyone else out there who wants to upload one but can't find the way to do it???

First have 2 ATS windows open, it makes it much easier. On the blue menu bar, go to tools. When that comes up, look over that page, and you'll see towards the middle, that there's a place to put in your avatar image info.

Now that you've seen that, repeat with the other page you have open, but go to "pictures" on the member tools bar. You will probably have to put in a password, sometimes it's the original password that came when you first signed up. You'll see a button that says "upload photo", browse your pc for the photo. Once uploaded, click on the pic, it will come up with image info under it, copy and paste info from appropriate box into the other window. Submit. Once you know its working, then just close the picture window.

as some posters have indicated not being able or not knowing how here is a mini photo tutorial i've cobbled up on the fly and change your avatar from nothing to something.

DISCLAIMER: no graphic artist am i

arrows indicate relevent links if this is your first time select album and create one

once you've created album click upload picture

oh and make sure in the photo album drop down you have selected the proper album

and browse for your pic

once youve selected your pic click the green Add Photo button

click on the picture and copy link according to your needs in this case use as ATS avatar then click the green ATS avatar

Still, I think that you should do one with a manatee involved somehow..

People change their avatars regularly here, it's not really new. Having said that I would have a tough time changing my kitty as he's much better liked then me.

On one particularly embarrassing occasion someone I was debating with in a thread changed their avatar half way through it and I ended up thinking I was arguing with two separate people causing me major confusion
