HB Gary and Sockpuppetry

Have you ever felt that you were outnumbered and your opinion was laughed at in a given thread?

Well now you know why.

Implications?

According to an embedded MS Word document found in one of the HB Gary emails, it involves creating an army of sockpuppets, with sophisticated "persona management" software that allows a small team of only a few people to appear to be many, while keeping the personas from accidentally cross-contaminating each other. Then, to top it off, the team can actually automate some functions so one persona can appear to be an entire Brooks Brothers riot online.

Not sure why you think it's abnormal they'd consider this given their outlined forms of attack towards anyone who was opposed to the people who paid them.

A number of pdf's were created by Aaron in order to outline just how they would implement shonky activities, against wikileaks, against anon, against currently unknown threats...

they didn't play by the rules... not at all, they are dirty fighters on the side of alleged light, while highlighting the dirty fighters on the side of imposed dark.

They are the same, just legal.

ATS is the first place i thought of when i read this article.

From 9/11 to the Isreali boat raid to whatever topic is the hot flavour of the day a percentage of accounts/replies would have to be sockpuppets.

Ive seen many a good thread hijacked and taken so far of the beaten track that there is no chance of bringing it back from the dead, it might as well 404.

Also from now on a shall refer to the mods here as Sock Bashers.

Hopefully those who "drive" the sockpuppets will actually have to read a post or two, to ensure that the sockpuppets aren't identified as bots, and will eventually see the truth.

This is eerie stuff, but not unexpected.

Everything has a flaw, and it's just a matter of discovering and exploiting it.

HBGary's biggest mistake was underestimating, threatening and mocking Anonymous, and as a result, the world has acquired information which backs up our our preceding suspicions of dirty play and sociopathic tendencies of big companies.

Now that we know they exist, we can find more data on how these things are employed and use that information to our advantage.

Based on the amount of mindless, empty, invalid talking points I see spread on many of these threads, I find that hard to believe.
