Pre-dawn quake rousts Greenbriar area

thecabin.net

A magnitude 3.8 earthquake rattled the Greenbrier area at 4:50 this morning.

The quake was centered 4 miles north-northeast of Greenbrier, 4 miles south-southwest of Guy and 5 miles southeast of Twin Groves.

The tremor was the 10th quake in the area since 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

I looked for local news in Arkansas for the quakes and the local Greenbriar area news site has two earthquake stories on it's front page.

They made a point in one of the articles of saying "The tremor was the 10th quake in the area since 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night."

Since I live in the New Madrid area, and I've felt some of the earthquakes personally, I've been interested in this for a couple years now.

I'm perplexed about how so many earthquakes have been so close to each other. Can someone explain how this happens?

oops sorry...I'm quite new here. I was trying to post news in response to a post on an already created Arkansas quakes thread. I had no idea it would start a new thread.

I am soooo sorry. I learned my lesson.
