This is a logo from the band Dream Theater's more recent album release, "Black Clouds and Silver Linings". Extremely Masonic, the square and compass being the most obvious.

Firstly, let me be clear this is not another "Masons are evil" thread. Basically the story goes like this : I enjoy listening to Dream Theater and recently became aware of their Black Clouds and Silver Linings which came out in 09. Apon listening to the album and noting the particular feelings and lyrics of the songs, then viewing some of the art work, i decided that the album itself had some Masonic symbolism, and reference. ( among other things )

Let's look at thelyrics to A Rite of Passage

2. A Rite Of Passage
[Music by Petrucci, Portnoy, Rudess and Myung, Lyrics by John Petrucci]

Since the new world order
Played upon our fears
Spreading accusations
Of radical ideas

The brotherhood of wisdom
Strength and dignity
Its rituals and secrets
Remain a mystery

Beneath an ever watchful eye
The angels of the temple fly

Turn the key
Walk through the gate
The great ascent
To reach a higher state
A rite of passage

The final stage
A sacred home
Unlock the door
And lay the corner stone
A rite of passage

Men of wealth and power
Influence and fame
Philosophers and leaders
All members of the trade

Bound by oath and honor
Like the rose and cross
An enigmatic union
Of esoteric thought

Beneath an ever watchful eye
The angels of the temple fly

Turn the key
Walk through the gate
The great ascent
To reach a higher state
A rite of passage

The final stage
A sacred home
Unlock the door
And lay the corner stone
A rite of passage

Turn the key
Walk through the gate
The great ascent
To reach a higher state
A rite of passage

The seven stars
The rising sun
A perfect world
Where new life has begun
A rite of passage

Once you've read the lyrics, then enjoy the music video: intro and ending in space, complete with cloaked men gathering, a strange light cube.

So are there any Masons on ATS willing to speak their mind on the subject? I was just wondering if it was known information if any of the members of Dream Theater were somehow connected to the Masons, i really don't know exactly how one could search for that kind of thing haha.

What are your thoughts on some of the album, if you have listened to it? Dream Theater are known for being particularly lengthy in giving songs, and whole albums their own real story. If there is a message behind this latest album, what would it be? I have my own thoughts on the subject, but i thought i would provoke that thought into the reader.

Didnt view the vid, but I did read the lyrics and noticed a lot of masonic ties.
Besides the obvious square and compass

Pull me under, pull me under, pull me under. I am not afraid.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Video link is not working for me.

I used to be a huge dream theater fan. I still like them, but my tastes have shifted in recent years. It is a side of them I never knew existed. Masons or not still one of the most talented and accomplished group of musicians out there.

Dream Theater is great—amazing musicians and lyrics. Personally, I think the masonic thing is hilarious. They're aware like we are, and their stuff is more jabbing at the idiocy than what some seem worried about. This is a pretty good song—one of my faves as far as political statements go. Enjoy.

Prophets of War

It burns deep down inside of me
We have ourselves to blame
Not questioning, accepted as the truth

Debate this fight it's just cause
The facts do not supports theirs
To liberate a people
And rid them of tyrant rule

Is it time to make a change
Are we closer than before
Can we help them break away
Are we profiting from war
It's time to make a change

Intrigued
Got your attention - Deceived
Since the inception - Our brave
Fight for what reason

Compelled
Can we clean up this mess
The loss of loved ones
A perverse request
They continue the same rhetoric
These derelicts that profit
Win or lose

Is it time to make a change
Are we closer than before
Can we help them break away
Are we profiting from war
It's time to make a change

Time for change
Fight the fear
Find the truth
Time for change

The only thing
That I believe
Will help us see this through is faith
Pray they will forgive
Forgive our arrogance
So we can make it right
Right what they have wronged

See you sweat
Unexpected, controversial
Get used to it
Things are gonna get personal
Your sympathy
A pitiful display you stutter
Your empathy
Means nothing if there is no honor
Responsible
Of this you are incapable
We implicate
Incriminate - Exacerbate - Too much at stake

Our Fathers, Mothers
Sisters, Brothers
Sons and Daughters
Forced
Perpetuating their ideals
A mindless act
To stay the course

Is it time to make a change
Are we closer than before
Can we help them break away
Are we profiting from war

Is it time to make a change
Are we closer than before
Can we help them break away
Are we profiting from war
Is it time to make a change
A change from what it's been
Can we help them break away
Is our patience wearing thin
It's time to make a change

Time for change
Fight the fear
Find the truth
Time for change

definitely, i think they are somehow aware or intrigued by what they hear about the whole 'secret society' and 'secret truths' rumors about our culture and history...

Dream Theater are known to put time and energy into constructing songs and whole albums that tell stories and have valid deepness to them.. See their album Scenes From a Memory, the whole album lyrics are written in the form of a play with various scenes, all telling the story of a man receiving past life regression hypnosis and experiencing the story that was his past life..

What i mean to get at is that Dream Theater are one of those bands that tell messages and have insightful tones to their music and art. It would be fair to say, i think, that we are seeing an interest ( on the part of the band ) in the secret society, hidden truth and masonic material.
