In dramatic turnaround, US to censure Israel in Security Council

WASHINGTON – In a dramatic departure from longstanding policy, the United States intends to support a United Nations Security Council resolutions censuring Israel for building settlements in Palestinian territory.

The Obama administration told Arab governments Tuesday it will back a draft resolution saying the Security Council "does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlement activity," according to Foreign Policy magazine.

wow.. i didn't see this one coming. so apparently the Obama administration is backing the UN sanction that deems the occupation of certain portions of the state of Israel "illegal", such as eastern Jerusalem.

the U.S. has vetoed many of these sanctions in the last couple of decades, but now that the sanction uses "less harsh language" their gonna back it.

i don't know what to make of this or what it means for the Israelites, but this sounds pretty big.

Wow awesome, I actually did see this coming. Back when Obama was bribing Israel with weapons to do a 60 day? settlement freeze. I was wondering what the point of that would be. I guess this is why.

Interesting to see, considering the past POTUS's have always backed Israel? Never quite understood that concept, I mean, Israel produces squat....and yet we give them 2 billion a year? But, I'm not getting my hopes up that anything big will come of this.....same ol song and dance, someone will promise contracts, for a big payout, etc etc etc.......................

Isreal produces something very valuable for the Corporate Shadow Government and the Military Industrial Complex, and Oil Companies, and that's the pretext for high oil prices and keeping the Middle East militarized.

If Israel 'feels' threatened by a oil producing country that becomes a pretext to sell to the International Community as well as Americans here at home for 'getting tough' with those nations, 'regime change' and 'preemtive war'.

Because that always potentially threatens the delivery of oil it creates the fluctuations in the market that allow for keeping oil prices high.

Of course the Banks benefit too, since they fund most of the militry spending.

None of this by the way is the fault of the average Jewish person, or many of the peaceful minded people who live in Israel who genuinely would like peace and the Arabs to have eqaulity with them, but hawkish and corrupt government there, tends to work with hawkish and corrupt government here to drive political events so the corporations can reap huge profits through the instability such hard line policies and security stances make.

No, the American people and Government don't profit off of it but in fact pay a steep price through the resulting war in terror such hard line gun boat diplomacy leads to through the resentments it breeds, but the Corporations make a fortune off of it all, and that's what really counts!
