Have you heard about the UFO Sightings at the Yakima Indian reservation in the State of Washington ? whether you have or not i think you'll find this subject very interesting and that's why i am sharing the information.

When the Yakima reservation is mentioned i believe most people think of the Eceti ranch but did you know there have been reports coming from that area since the 1940-1950s or earlier ? some of the reports describe flying balls of light and disc shaped objects that acted in an intelligent manor and a few reports mention the witnesses were chased by the UFO ! in fact there were so many reports that J. Allen Hynek requested that an investigation be launched to study the phenomena and from what i understand, no real conclusion or explanations have been found and to this day the sightings remain a mystery.

I think this is a fascinating subject that deserves alot more attention then it has been getting and i have included here two very interesting videos and many of the documents pertaining to the case and the investigations. there are some pictures of the ufo's in the Pdf documents below but didn't display them because of the copyright issues. i look forward to hearing your opinions on this and would appreciate any relevant contributions to the discussion. cheers

YAKIMA, Wash-- A new study finds Yakima has one of the highest UFO reporting rates per capita. Popular Mechanics released the study, it shows by county the number of UFO sightings reported from 1947 to 2005.

Washington State has certainly had its share of UFO reports and virtually everyone interested in the phenomenon is aware that the whole flying saucer craze was started by Kenneth Arnold's 1947 encounter, which actually took place not too far from Yakima. A long series of "UFO-like" reports, in many ways similar to the Piedmont UFO reports, took place on the Yakama Reservation, not far from the city of Yakima located in south-central Washington State (the tribe name and city name are different by one letter). While the number of these reports peaked in 1972-74, the phenomenon continues to this day. Also notable is the fact that highly scientific research on the Yakima phenomenon began during the peak years, and the research continues despite some setbacks. Although there have been fewer scientists involved in the Yakima studies, in some ways the research is more important than that at Piedmont.

The Yakama Tribe, like many others, has legends and an oral history that seemingly takes the UFO-like activity on their reservation well back into time. For example, they have stories of "little people" known as "stick Indians" and legends of light forms. However, the earliest documented UFO report that I can find from Yakima comes from 1957.

The Yakima reports also include a handful of "close encounters" with humanoids, odd mental phenomena, and strange creatures. And there are many cases that appear to show that the lights interacted with the observers, precisely as was the case at Piedmont. In essence, what the Yakima research certainly demonstrates is that something very real does manifest and we have yet to determine precisely what that is. My long-term hunch, which remains my best hypothesis, is that a plasma-like energy is involved.

Dr. J. Allen Hynek requested a study on the Yakima UFO sightings

The Yakima UFO Field project was undertaken by me in August of 1972 at the request of Dr. J. Allen Hynek. The study has continued to this day.

"The light moved so fast that it gave the impression of a streak. It would appear stationary for a moment, then, almost instantaneously, appear some distance away (typically 10 degrees of arc through 7x50 binoculars). After another brief pause, it would dart back in the opposite direction. When stationary, the object appeared through the binoculars as an intense pinpoint of white light."

Yakima Study Part 1 - www.setv.org...

"The object appeared as a pair of lights moving in a definite, periodic pattern. The color of the light emitted by the object was reddish-orange. Because of the repetitive nature of the light pattern and the fixed relationship of the lights to one another, the observers felt that the lights must have been attached to a body or fuselage of some sort and spinning around this body. The structure would have been about the size of an F-27 airliner, according to the estimate of one observer. Figure 1. shows schematically the pattern traced by the lights. The object was at an elevation of about 0ø relative to the observers, since the observation point is on a hill overlooking Granger. The lights of Granger were also clearly visible under the object."

The Willard J. Vogel Study

The Study is named in honor of the late Willard J. "Bill" Vogel, a supervisor in the Fire Control Division on the Yakama Indian Reservation, near Toppenish, Washington USA. Although NL observations on the Yakama Reservation and surrounding areas had been reported for many years, Mr. Vogel was the first to recognize the nocturnal lights and other unidentified phenomena on the Reservation as a physical reality and legitimate subject for more careful study. He supported his arguments for a serious inquiry with numerous photographs, log books, and eyewitness reports from a number of credible observers.

HISTORY OF UFO PHENOMENA IN THE STUDY AREA

Activity recognizable as classical UFO phenomena has been present in the Toppenish area for more
than eight years. There is even some evidence to suggest that UFO reports are a part of Yakima Indian
legends. A detectable increase in activity has taken place in the last three years. Reports have recently
been made by law enforcement personnel from the Washington Stare Patrol, County Sheriff and
reservation Law and Order department. Formerly, fire lookouts had been the primary source of reports.
A majority of observations are made at night and consist mostly of the typical "nocturnal light" (NL)
phenomenon described by Hynek(1). Primary characteristics of this particular phenomenon include:

1. Generally bright light, larger than a point source.
2. Colors reported cover the entire spectrum, but most
usually are yellow-orange.
3. Kinematics are not attributable to balloons,
aircraft or other natural objects and often give
the appearance of intelligent action.

The NL in the Toppenish study area have generally conformed to the above description. The
Toppenish manifestation does seem to differ slightly in that it is frequently observed on or near the ground.
Predominant colors range from brownish-orange to pure white. Investigation of prior NL activity in the
study area revealed that a few daytime observations have been made. These daylight sightings are very
rare and have ranged from "fuzzy" appearing "blobs" to well-defined, metallic colored, disk shaped objects
of the classical "flying saucer" variety. There was also one ten year old report of a physical impression
made in the ground by an UFO.

Dr. Josef Allen Hynek

www.cufos.org...
en.wikipedia.org...

In 1981 I began an investigation into UFO sightings that had occured over 20 years in a single area, the Yakima Indian Reservation in south-central Washington state. In the early 1980s, the MUFON UFO Journal published several of my papers based on my preliminary findings. Now the J. Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies has published my complete findings as a book: EXAMINING THE EARTHLIGHT THEORY: The Yakima UFO Microcosm.

EXAMINING THE EARTHLIGHT THEORY looks microscopically at the Tectonic Strain Theory of UFOs. I use the Yakima data (nearly 200 reports from a variety of witnesses, plus numerous color photographs) to test the viability of the Tectonic Strain Theory which Persinger believes explains the Yakima sightings.

The Yakima data form a "microcosm", a fascinating, self-contained world of strange reports, which include a range of unexplained occurrences--orange balls of light, CE3's, possible abductions, Bigfoot sightings, daylight objects, subterranean sounds and more.

Nearly every part of the Reservation experienced some type of unexplained event over a 20 year period, making the Yakima Indian Reservation an excellent "laboratory" for detailed examination of UFO phenomena.

I've said it before and I will say it again there is something wierd going on in Washington State. I visited a little town called Omak and the feeling was strong that something was a little off about the place. I heard rumors of Oroville being worse and even met someone from there. Let's just say it was proof enough for me. When we left there I felt a relief. My spouse has family there so I have to go there again someday but not looking forward to it thats for sure.

There was the fairly well-known young male actor who did a documentary trying to find out about cropcirces and UFOS, and his past port of call was at the Gililiand ranch and we actually see him looking at what looks like a real UFO, and he also seemed to feel it was. whether it was I dunno lol

Cool thread

My fiance and I stayed at the Eceti ranch a few days ago on the 2nd. I live in WA state and have wanted to go for years ever since I saw it on Paranormal State. I've been a believer in UFO's since I was a child, my fiance however was not sure if he believed but had a open mind to it. We set up camp there and when dusk hit the skywatching began. We easily saw over 20 UFO's with our own eyes and night vision goggles, also an abundance of orbs flying around which could be seen with infared cameras. It is truly something you have to go see for yourself - these things were not satellites or planes they easily moved from one side of the sky all the way to the other sky within 2 or so minutes. They were going FAST! They also responded to our lights being flashed up at them - they would glow brighter, pulse, and power up and go faster. We also saw them in the middle of the night when we woke up to use the restroom around 3am so they must be zooming around all night. I suggest everyone go there and experience it for yourself it will definitely change your life.

Great job mate and that's some truly interesting reading and footage you've posted there
-there's a good article below from the Tri-City Herald about UFO sightings in the area and they also list some of the more unidentified reports from the Project Bluebook files - Hanford Nuclear plant also gets a mention although there's another government document below describing similar reports from two years earlier.

Your best odds for sighting a UFO is the Yakima Valley.

According to reports filed with Phenomena Research in Seattle and the U.S. Air Force's Project Blue Book of 1948-1969, the most reports in the Mid-Columbia region have been in the Yakima Valley.

Toppenish leads with 11 reports. Others are Yakima, 10; Buena, 2; and Sawyer, Granger, Union Gap, Outlook, White Swan, Zillah, Selah, Harrah and Prosser, all with 1.

Walla Walla equals Toppenish with 11. Others are Kennewick, 8; Kahlotus, 7; Larson Air Force Base near Moses Lake, Richland and Pasco, all 6; Moses Lake, 5; Soap Lake and Pendleton, both 4; Heppner, Basin City and Othello, each with 3; Benton City, Hanford and Ephrata, each with 2 and Boardman and Royal City, each with 1.

With the assistance of the Phenomena Research staff and microfilm copies of "Project Blue Book' files the most interesting of the reports include these summaries:

YAKIMA (3-22-52) -- A sighting of an unidentified flying object resembling a large ball of fire which would build up and then fade away, of indefinite shape, indefinite size and red in color was made south of Yakima. An Air Defense Command Alert Aircraft was scrambled on a "Pronto Red One" alert and observed the light which "would appear brilliantly for a period of approximately 43 seconds and then fade out," at 22,500 feed and again and 25,000 feet. Project Blue Book analysis -- "Unidentified."

MOSES LAKE (5-1-52) -- Atomic Energy Commission employees at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation reported seeing a silver object with a fairly slow air speed for about 90 seconds at 5:38 a.m. The object did not have wings and made no sound, leaving no trail or exhaust.

Project Blue Book analysis -- "Unidentified."

WALLA WALLA (6-1-52) -- Observation of one small, oval object with a "definite airfoil" but no visible propulsion system, exhaust or contrail made at 1 p.m. by Air Force reserve officer. Sighting lasted seven seconds. The officer served as a rated pilot during 1942-1945. The object moved rapidly from the southeast to the east at an altitude from 10,000 to 15,000 feet and a speed estimated in excess of 1,800 miles per hour.

Project Blue Book analysis -- "Unidentified."

LARSON AFB (1-18-53) -- Located immediately north of Moses Lake, a green disc, the size of a weather balloon, was observed at 3:15 p.m. by 60 military personnel of the 82nd Fighter-Interceptor Squadron until it disappeared. The disc, though appearing like a weather balloon, was traveling opposite to the direction of the wind. An F-94 aircraft was scrambled but a 30-minute search of the area produced negative intercept results. There was no other air traffic in the area at the time.

Project Blue Book analysis -- "Unidentified."

EPHRATA (4/21/67) --Two businessmen and their wives were returning from a night meeting on a Grant County road near Blue Lake when a brilliantly lighted object hovered before them in the roadway. When the object appeared the auto's engine stopped, the auto's lights and radio became inoperable and remained that way until the object left. Several similar reports made to area newspapers during the week.

HARRAH (11/29/75) --Two farmers were plowing just at sunset when brightly lighted objects moved overhead. A they passed over the tractors without making any sound the alternator pins on the instrument panel jumped to full charge and fluctuated until the objects moved away. When the objects were gone the alternator pins returned to normal.

TOPPENISH (1/27/77) -- A 6-year-old boy observed a disc-shaped object near his home and reported seeing humanoid like creatures. Impressions remained in the ground for several day where the youth reported seeing the disc.

YAKIMA: Opening the First Curtain / YAKIMA: The Second Curtain

Excerpts

Mid-July, 1971 Timberwolf Mountain Lookout Station (northeast of Mt. Adams), WA

..The thing was a bright silvery disk/cigar with black rounded "domes" on each upper end. It just sat there for a minute and a half's observation, swinging very slightly so as to catch the Sun's rays a glint brightly. He dropped his binoculars for a second, raised them back up, and it had disappeared. One additional unusual detail: the thing seemed made of riveted together plates.

Fall of 1961 Satus Peak Fire Lookout Station, Toppenish, WA

A husband and wife lookout team were startled by a light like a camera flash going off. He grabbed the binoculars and saw several "dull stainless steel" objects doing formation flying at treetop level. These things seemed to effortlessly hug the contours of the Earth [probably like a cruise missile today.] The things looked like teardrops with a black spot on them. They never wavered in their tight formation..

July 31, 1974 Wishram Heights, Klickitat County, WA

..The things moved in jerky "stair-step" motions, seemingly at random. Of course there was no sound. The things appeared like "vanilla wafers" with a shallow bump on top, when seen on edge, and two lights [blue and red] were on their sides. But when they turned their "bottoms" up towards the witnesses, they displayed a dark round object with a whirling rainbow all-mushed-together pinwheel of light flowing out from the edges. The six objects seemed to arrange themselves into a triangular array and moved off.

Early February, 1982 Highway 222, Yakima Reservation, WA

A police officer was on routine patrol. He saw a light ahead and worried that it might be a house fire or even brush fire, so off he went. He was driving along Toppenish Creek when over the trees rose something he was not expecting: two bright-white light cylinders each the size of a house. The bottom of the cylinders seemed to resemble half moons. The ominous objects rose silently to 100-150 feet and began moving towards Toppenish Ridge. they smoothly, never breaking their side-by-side arrangement, slid up and over the 1,500 foot ridge and sailed away making a lazy "S" travel route as they left..

Hangar 1 gave this a little air time(starts around 16:10 in the video) in season 2 episode 5 which focused on native american sightings. It was one of the better parts of the show as the other sightings mentioned dont seem to have much evidence to them.

The Alan Tafoya sighting was also interesting(starts at 30:00), too bad they didnt spend the whole episode on that.

Yakima UFO Sightings

Yakima is home too the first report of a "flying saucer".

Kenneth Arnold UFO sighting

On June 24, 1947, Arnold was flying from Chehalis, Washington to Yakima, He made a brief detour after learning of a $5,000 reward for the discovery of a U.S. Marine Corps C-46 transport airplane that had crashed near Mt. Rainier.

Arnold landed in Yakima at about 4.00 p.m., and quickly told friend and airport general manager Al Baxter the amazing story, and before long, the entire airport staff knew of Arnold's claims. He discussed the story with the staff, and later wrote that Baxter didn't believe him.

Arnold flew on to an air show in Pendleton, Oregon, not knowing that somebody in Yakima had phoned in ahead to say that Arnold had seen some strange new aircraft

But it doesnt stop there....it is also the Home of BigFooT

Almost thirty-seven years ago two young men from Yakima, Washington, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin, emerged from a remote forest in the northwest corner of California with a brief 16-millimeter film showing a hairy creature

Good point there mate, didn't realize that (Jess_Undefined also made a good thread here about that one).

Also, when it comes to UFOs being reported over Hanford Atomic Plant it seems that, as well as the ones in 1950 and 1952, there was also a strange one in 1945.

In July 2014, UFO historian Jan Aldrich revealed that his research group, Project 1947, had secured World War II-era documents from Headquarters Fourth Air Force, which referred to overflights of the Hanford site by “unidentified aircraft”. One of them, dated January 23, 1945, and directed to the Commanding General of the Army Air Forces and the Assistant Chief of Air Staff, Training, states:

Resulting from an unidentified aircraft flying over the Hanford Engineering Company Plant at Pasco, Wash. on at least three nights in the past month (this Company is engaged in undisclosed projects for the War and Navy Departments) this HQ was requested by [Western Defense Command], about ten days ago, to move one [battery] of searchlights from Seattle to the Pasco plant. The Thirteenth Naval District has made arrangements for Naval Air Station, Pasco, to employ both radar and fighter aircraft in attempting interception of these unidentified aircraft. The airspace over the Hanford Company is both a Danger area and a Restricted area. Our battery of searchlights has been in place since 15 January; one incident has occurred since that date in which a brief radar contact was made—attempted night interception again failed.
So here we have an official document referring an unidentified aircraft flying over the Top Secret Hanford atomic materials production plant on three occasions in January 1945. At least one of those “aircraft” was tracked on radar and successfully eluded the U.S. Navy fighter sent up to intercept it..

I lived nearby in a apple growing town called Selah. There is an Army tank firing range in the hills to the north of Yakima. These sightings have been going on there before that base was established, but there are often flares launched and visible for a long ways off. in fact I just saw some flares in broad daylight while about 20 miles north of the base about 6 weeks ago.

I saw my first of two UFO sightings there in the 1977 - ish time frame...maybe '76....maybe '78??

They were over the direction of the firing range and I was pretty young so I sort of dismissed them at first, but after a few minutes it was clear that they were not flares. I remember later on thinking that they made me think of the aft side of the Battlestar Galactica ships that the heros flew...not the Cylons ones. Nowadays I would compare them to the Belgium triangle except vertical (with the top being the single point of the triangle and the two other points at the bottom) and the center light in the middle being the largest. I seem to remember 8 of the triangles in a single row formation, appearing to fly away from me. They just appeared one by one and flew on away together. They never flew over me like they should have. It was really cool, but I did not have much exposure then to know if it was reported or anything.

Anyway...thought I'd throw that out there. I will someday finish a book, that I have written about half of, that pertains to these events and takes place in 1890's around Mt. Adams (Klickitat, as the natives called it).

Stick Indians, Natural spirits, Bigfoot and even some Skull and Bones to round it out ATS style...it is all in there but, since I do not think of myself as a writer, it is most likely a turd in need of a lot of polishing. Hahahahaha

I think they are there...and something spiritual and/or other-worldly.

I believe the Yakima tribe has legally changed back to their native Yakama name. They have (as mentioned) their own beliefs about these sightings, as well as some of the other indigenous peoples of that region
