Robin... I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for. I just put in some of the key words into Google and came across this. Which appears to have several sources, across the globe, on actual "deep well injections" and their outcomes. Clickable links throughout the page.

Sorry but that list is fake! The geologists say that injection does NOT create earthquakes. OK?

Whatever next. (Did you read the disclaimer for non scientists by the way? That should have been for the scientists!)

Too busy. Haven't had enough time to count the smaller quakes.
They just keep coming.
Need a musical interlude.

Around 3pm, Greenbrier, Arkansas residents felt several earthquakes, measuring from 2.2 to 3.5 in intensity.

Here is a list of earthquakes:

3.5 2011/02/16 21:46:17 35.270 -92.361 6.6 5 km ( 3 mi) NNE of Greenbrier, AR

2.1 2011/02/16 21:31:59 35.265 -92.347 6.3 5 km ( 3 mi) NE of Greenbrier, AR

2.2 2011/02/16 21:30:01 35.261 -92.346 6.3 5 km ( 3 mi) NE of Greenbrier, AR

2.7 2011/02/16 14:39:08 35.276 -92.369 6.0 6 km ( 3 mi) NNE of Greenbrier, AR

2.3 2011/02/16 14:26:29 35.261 -92.354 5.6 5 km ( 3 mi) NE of Greenbrier, AR

2.1 2011/02/16 11:15:27 35.252 -92.352 6.3 4 km ( 3 mi) NE of Greenbrier, AR

2.1 2011/02/16 11:10:21 35.255 -92.352 5.9 4 km ( 3 mi) NE of Greenbrier, AR

2.6 2011/02/16 10:53:13 35.275 -92.374 5.8 5 km ( 3 mi) NNE of Greenbrier, AR

2.2 2011/02/16 09:30:13 35.247 -92.342 6.2 5 km ( 3 mi) ENE of Greenbrier, AR

2.3 2011/02/16 05:01:27 35.262 -92.349 6.6 5 km ( 3 mi) NE of Greenbrier, AR

2.2 2011/02/16 04:53:16 35.255 -92.348 6.4 5 km ( 3 mi) NE of Greenbrier, AR

2.4 2011/02/16 04:34:50 35.256 -92.352 6.4 5 km ( 3 mi) NE of Greenbrier, AR

2.0 2011/02/16 00:38:34 35.255 -92.349 6.2 5 km ( 3 mi) NE of Greenbrier, AR

What it felt like? Well, it felt, initially as something snapped like rock under pressure from something, then it felt like being on "jello" for a couple of seconds, almost like when a washing machine is a bit unbalanced. The motion is from side-to-side (R to L) or East to West, then sometime it feels like a "sliding" motion. The windows "settle" and "pop" but the quakes have yet to break any windows.

There are reports of a concession stand window being "cracked" from a recent quake at Wooley Hollow State Park, and more unique "feeling" quakes and shakes are being noticed as the "swarm" spreads out. It gets rather interesting here sometimes, with all of the shaking going-on.

So I am beginning to see the reason for the New Madrid drill - I think we should pay attention as to what to do in a worse case scenario. I live in N. Indiana but my entire family lives not far from Memphis in Ky - they would be affected greatly. So many quakes in Arkansas and they just keep coming, one after the other. Will be coming to this thread often for updates. Thank you Robin and everyone for info and links.

Still looking and came across these other items.

The injected fluids had very little potential for reaching the surface or useable groundwater supply since the injection point had 11,900 feet of rock above it and was sealed at the opening. The Army discontinued use of the well in Feb. 1966 because of the possibility that the fluid injection was triggering earthquakes in the area. The well remained unused for nearly 20 years.

Page 9 of this document at the USGS really gets interesting!

Article from Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment

And an interesting article from Wired.com

Robin would you go so far as to put a time frame on a larger quake in this area?

S & F!!

I live in the New Madrid area (Memphis TN) and its amazing that I told my children, out of the blue sky (before I even saw this thread) that the New Madrid area will see a quake this year, probably around a 6.0 magnitude.

The history channel had a special on this called 'MegaQuake 10.0) about this happening.

It's coming.

Even if it is coming, which at present I have my doubts, it will not be a 10
that is for sure so I think the History Channel may have that a bit wrong if that is what they were implying.

It is estimated around 7.5 IF it happens.

Ahhhh better!

Looks as if things have gone quiet. What time is it there?

No one answered. I make it right now 19:20 there as it is 01:20 on the 17th here. That mean those quakes pretty much stopped rolling round bang on 18:00 (Midnight UTC). Is that significant?

If you go back through the thread you will find that there is a well map and also another map with the earthquakes by the well positions.

The earthquake numbers back to 1900 I should point out do not give a picture as there were less seismos, however that is NOT belittling the current problems.

coincidence or not ? your date of May 18 just happens to be within 24hrs of the full moon that month ... May 17th around noon (depending on your location) ... interesting correlation to say the least.

Just felt another quake...not as strong as the last one

Wanted to add that it seemed like the shaking lasted longer but the initial thud wasn't as strong
