Scott Aus (didn't catch his last name) fro the USGS on TV now saying they have 3 new stations on line and will go out in the morning and add the data from them into the data they have right now and determine depth. He is saying it was felt all over the state and in some surrounding states. Saying the swarm started last Sept. and have been increasing and picking up and seeing the popcorn effect. He is saying lot of quakes are occuring right now. 2 things they are looking at 1) He is saying the area is about 10 miles from Enola swarm and one of the strongest quakes to hit in over 30 years, it could be a previously unknown unmapped fault down in the basement rock. 2) they are ruling out connection to the production wells, but they are not ruling out the salt water injection wells. He is saying there are lots of faults that crisscross the state some are mapped and some are not. He is saying that the faults are probably at the right angle for it to pop off. Question answer period now. Some one tell me what to ask and I"ll call in.

Did you hear him say there are hundreds or thousands of faults here ? That suprised me

Ask him what bearing the study on intracrustal faults has on the current situation. The one that compares a fault like the New Madrid to a game of whack a mole.

Westcoast. Is there a way to go back in history say from the first to current on all the earthquakes in this area?

Okay, using the only database I am familiar with (USGS) I went back to the 14th when this swarm began. Problem is, it's only showing quakes 2.5 and above. This is very impressive, however. Just in the past two weeks, there have been 36 quakes in a 8 km area that were above a 2.5. This is NOT showing the quakes that have happened today. Here is the list:

I can't get thru but sent an email to the newsroom to try to get an answer. I think they have left the air coming back at 5 am for now, but the weather man will be there thru the night watching the storms. Maybe someone will email back or they will ask. Keep your fingers crossed.

Here is the location of the 4.7 magnitude earthquake. Notice the "fault," which runs westward just north of Greenbrier, Arkansas, to eastward through Wooly Hollow State Park. The Quakes originally were located just west of Wooley Hollow State Park, then migrated westward just north of Greenbrier, where the "big one" hit last night.

I hope the cat doesn`t know something we don`t... my dogs have been acting nuts all day. I thought it was the weather, but maybe not.

FYI, my animals sensed the quake coming about 20 seconds before it hit. I told the one who noticed it to bark really loud the next time he felt one coming in. I think he was rather proud of himself.

Good! My dogs rarely want to come in the house, but they both were whining and wanting to come in after I fed them. But they act that way when we are likely to get twisters, so I didn`t think anything about it. They both have been barking with the small quakes, but not a sound with this one.

I've been out looking for her. My dogs alerted too I can't find the cat anywhere and she is an inside cat and hates storms and usually is beating the door down wanting in if the wind blows too hard. She is nowhere to be found and that scares me. The dogs are settled down at the moment and I saw 3 deer that hang out in the yard while I was out looking for the cat. Pretty good lightening show at times and the rumbling thunder or EQ's or a combination of both.

I guess that means this isn`t over. A friend called and asked me if I was sure it wasn`t a "fore-quake". I hadn`t really considered that, but she`s from California so I`m sure she`s familiar with that kind of thing. I really hope it calms down. Way too many sleepless nights lately!

Perhaps after the thunderstorms move away, she will return. She sounds very sensitive. Sending love and light thoughts to her so she can find her way back home.

OK found the cat and she is back in the house but acting a little spooky. They have been picking up around 2 or 3 am every night I've noticed this past week I guess. I haven't slept well and sure can't tonight.
