and yes, so sadly true.
In my opinion, that's what makes 'pop' music so popular. People have heard it all before, so it is not a new sound and it feels familiar.

I came across the video about 4 months ago and thought wow this is so true i never thought about 4 cords being the basics of almost all music...Plus there so funny! thanks for the reply I'm glad you enjoyed it~~

So all these years i've been trying to play the guitar, i could have just learnt four chords and be done with it?

The guitar player was playing a progression of D7
which is a basic rock n' roll chord. I did it all the time.
