Firstly, forgive those who flame you... it's okay.

Secondly, I also don't Believe in the same Belief-System you do... actually I don't Believe anything.. I observe and gain knowledge from my experience in and out of this limited physical realm. These are the places most people never experience, especially those who are Attached to a Belief-System which prevents them breaking out of the Limitations of that Belief-System.

Thirdly, even the Catholic Church has moved away from the Doctrine of Hell, and since that is the oldest of the Christian Belief-Systems they might know something.. Yes? Something like how the Concept has been used to manipulate the thoughts, actions and Beliefs of billions of people in history so that they would not look at any other Belief-System.. which makes their's the largest. Ahh, humans, we forget how we used our Free Will, freely.

Lastly, IF hell were to exist, then I suppose I will go there and see all my old friends who died before me.. Reunion!!

don't most religions sort of have their own version of hell anyways? assuming any one of them is real, isn't everyone going to hell? but considering the OP mentions "jesus christ", i assume a form of christianity. are people going to hell just based on the fact they don't accept jesus christ as their savior, or is there other reasons, such as them being a bad or negative person? or a combination of both?

Hell? And what is Hell?

I remember a television evangelist talking more than two decades ago. He told a story of how he went north into the Arctic regions to try to "save the souls" of the totem-worshipping natives. While trying to convince the natives to turn from their lives of ungodliness and to accept Christianity, he informed them that the price of their sins would be an eternity in a lake of fire.

Immediately, a young girl spoke up. She had a twinkle in her eye, a smile on her face, and the look of great expectations all around herself, and she asked "Please, tell us how to get there".

You see, for the natives of the Arctic, Hell (as described by Christians) seems more like the paradise that they long for. To them, their version of Hell is a giant freezer where they must endure freezing pains throughout eternity.

So, what is Hell?

I have to say the title of this thread kind of pisses me off. Its those statements that push so many people away from God. I know they did me until I found the real God instead of the monster that some religious folk try to shove down your throat. Do you really think you have to accept jesus as your savior to get into heaven? Jeez, I feel bad for everyone who died before he was born!
Jesus taught love and forgiveness, which is the way to the REAL God. Then came along this bastard called religion, who took the wonderful teachings of this man Jesus Christ and manipulated them, setting us so far back from where we should be. And sayings like "90 percent of people in the world are going to hell" are not helping anything on top of being just flat out incorrect.
I have to ask, do you truly believe that 90 percent of us are going to hell?

I love when people give statistics, like they are in the "know". I am a Pagan, a different breed from an atheist or a christian. 90% percent of people are going to hell. Ok, there are approximately 6.7 billion people on the earth right now. If I do the math, it appears 6.03 billion people are going to hell. .37 billion go to what, heaven? Ok.

Heaven will be mostly vacant. Hell will be jam packed. Where's the logistics in this?

Hhmmm, seems there are 2.1 billion christians in the world today. Ooops. That works out to 31%, roughly. No where close to 90 the OP says. Flaws in my logic? Please, tell me.

Other issues with the 9:1 ratio:

God is "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance". Google any of my "quotes" verbatim. I'm loosely paraphrasing here. To continue, "and have eternal life".

SO we have eternal life, what next? We worship God forever, eternally? Is that like a nine to five in the afterlife? Is God that egotistical? Curiously enough, we have to die a physical death in order to go to heaven or hell. We have to die spiritually to be "born again". It seems we are all striving for this "eternal life" thing. Nobody wants to die, eh? You like your thoughts, your mind, the way it works, and wouldn't mind if you could still use it after your body fails in this existence, right? Same here. I don't have the answers, not yet. It seems the more people that worship GOD, the stronger he becomes. He needs our energy or something?

Hell is supposed to be an awful place, from what I've been told, sulphur, burning, no water to drink, yadda yadda. I go back to logistics at this point, and say what about food? There was a story about a dude in hell that talked to someone in heaven, and they wanted the dude in heaven to moisten their fingertip so they could quench their thirst. Wouldn't he have wanted food too? Ok, so do you have a body that needs food and water, or not?

Heaven or Hell would seem to be a state of mind after you die. You have control of your thoughts, and go to heaven, or have a (dang) non-working mind, and go to hell. Eternity? Seriously, GOD can't be that sadistic.

However, if you study the Old Testament, KJV for example, God is an emotional train wreck. He destroys the world he created with a flood, because the creations he made made the wrong choices. He's pleased with the Israelites one minute, pissed the next, all because they don't obey him. It seems he is quite fallible. Why give us free-will? Hey, what is free-will if ya don't use it?

Am I going to hell? Am I one of the 90% that the OP states? Don't care, because the reality is only in this multiverse.
